Not sure if it matters but a game I played a while ago wouldn’t launch if the audio was set to the wrong KHz or something along those lines I don’t remember much about it though.It happened a long time ago so I’m going off of a barely there memory for it.
I doubt it is the problem but wouldn’t hurt to make sure.
Yes, I have tried that. I’ve added the game to my windows firewall too and it still doesn’t work. I honestly have tried every suggestion that people have told me they have done and nothing has worked. I’ve tried doing the same with the latest version too and the results are still the same.
Also, I’ve tried adding the game to steam using the code I got sent today but it won’t let me, saying that the game hasn’t been officially released yet and cannot be unlocked. What are the chances the game will work normally once I am able to play it via Steam?
Please help me Mr Dev man, I love this game and have been itching to play it again for the past 3 months, I will literally do anything to try and get it working again!

Having both the above issue and the white screen point to your antivirus blocking the game.
I know you said you have none but it would seem that something has kicked in.
If you can take a screenshot of task manager “processes” tab and send it to me at support@greenheartgames.com i can examine what you have running that could cause this.
I get this white screen error STILL, even when playing the Steam version of the game -.-

like many others I have the problem with the white screen. My solution: Run the game with Windows Vista compatibility - for me it works 
I play the steam version which I downloaded today. To change the compability mode correctly I used the files in the steam folder. The desktop link for Game Dev Tycoon doesen’t work here.
Ok. I have a simple fix for all of you! First your going to want to go to the game folder and right click the .exe
Then you need to tick the box entitled launch with 640 x 480 screen resolution. Then you need to let the game launch. Then Alt-Tab out of the game and go to your desktop. Right click the background and click screen resolution, Change that to your usual resolution and click apply and ok
There is your fix.
PLEASE REPEAT THIS FIX IF YOU’VE COMMENTED EARLIER SO PEOPLE DON’T have to scroll all the way down!
Nope, nothing suggested in this thread works. I just bought it today (Aug 30th) on Steam and all I get is a white screen.
I run Win 8 64 bit and Comodo Internet Security.
Edit: To clarify… not sure if it’s the same white screen as everyone else is getting but I get a white screen with a number of windows folders in the upper left, that are clickable but nothing happens if I do.
Edit again: I saw that this game uses Chromium? I run Google Chrome BETA channel as my default browser. Can that have anything to do with this?
Also, I have program files on C: and temp files on D: Can that be a cause, since my white screen shows the directory tree for D: in the upper left corner??

Because this is a long thread i am going to post this again;
In our experience the most likely cause of this is that some Anti-Virus and/or Firewall software is interfering with the application.
Please add an exception to your Anti Virus. If you do not know how to do this then let me know which AV you are using and I will find you a guide.
Simply turning the AV off does not stop all aspects of it from running so an exception must be added.
Please be aware that after adding the exception you need to validate the game files to restore any that the AV deleted.

If you’re not using Steam then please re install after you have added the exception.

Hello Charlie, thanks for the reply.
As I said, I have already done all these. And since I bought it through Steam I can’t install it in Safe mode. I have shut down my AV completely, not only added the exceptions (I have before trying that added the exceptions, of course).
The white screen does not respond to any interaction except ALT-F4 and ALT-TAB, btw. SLI is always off, Windows Upates are always installed ASAP, Compability settings does not make a difference… etc.
The only thing I have not tried is to completely uninstall my anti-virus.

So… tried everything else today.
Uninstalled comodo completely.
Disabled all network connections.
Still white screen, which apprently mean “something is blocking” the game.
The only thing left is the proxy on my ISP side. That one I cannot do anything about, for obvious reasons.
It is starting to seem like incompetent coding to me, since no other program has a problem, even when Comodo was extremely tight configured. Now, without ANYTHING that can block the program…
The only thing I can think of is that Game Dev doesn’t play well with Google Chrome, and i am not getting rid of Chrome just to try that idea. How many of those who have problems use Chrome? How many who do not have the problem use Chrome?
Maybe i have one solution i have an HP Pavilion Laptop with an Intel HD Graphic 4000 and an ATI Raedon HD 8670M. After i disabled the Intel HD and running only with the ATI card in can start the game and the screen shows the normal startup screen. Also i have mayor graphic failures in the game but i can live with that becaus i can PLAY

I only have one graphic card. However I have 2 different sound drivers… maybe…?

I had this problem but I fixed it. All you need to do is disconnect your PC/laptop from the internet, then when the game loads up you can reconnect to the internet. Hope this helps

I still think it has something to do with Chrome.

I had this game for a couple of weeks now. Played it a bunch. Loved it. Then all of a sudden today I started getting this white screen error at load. It was already added as an exception in Kaspersky AV and in my Windows firewall. I don’t believe I added or removed any programs. I have no idea why this error started happening. Anyway, what worked for me was the fix suggested here: launch the game in Windows Vista compatibility mode. (I’m running Windows 7.)
I just mention this for the sake of posterity, in case it would help anyone.
I had the white screen up until the last patch. Nothing helped. Then it worked until the latest batch of Windows updates… and now I have not heard from Support for a week after reporting it.
The White screen is back, and the ONLY difference from the week it worked was the standard Windows 8 updates. Nothing else changed on the system. It has now been non-working for a week.
