I pirated this game at first. Because Steam doesn’t refund, and seeing I don’t have a lot of money, I didn’t want to waste it on trash games.
But I enjoyed this game, so I bought it. Indie Developers don’t earn as much as EA.
If you want to stop pirates, make a good free test game.
So you could say, if I never pirated this game to test it, I would never have bought it and therefore never have supported the developers. I am 100% sure I’m not the only one who does this.
So yeah… Don’t be a dick towards all “pirates”, they just want to try before they buy.
Why does everyone on here think everything is about “you” or me, in this point, not once did I say that I am unfortunate, I never said anything about me. I’m just pointing out facts about our economy, and the people in it?
I feel like you are a spoiled, or were a spoiled kid growing up…No, kids can’t make money, if their parents don’t have much either? It’s not being lazy when you don’t beg, its called knowing your owns family’s financial limit? Gah.
But you have to have a game, whether you or your parents can afford it or not? You have to get what you want, no matter what? That sounds pretty spoiled as well, IMO. To me, that’s the entire idea behind piracy, and by extension, entitlement culture as a whole. “I deserve to have this because I want it, and I shouldn’t have to exchange anything at all for it unless I feel like doing so.”
You don’t know how other people’s life are, so please don’t talk like you’re the poorest guy on the world while we can see you’re definitely not. Some people don’t even have the money to buy games, some people don’t even have enough food, some people don’t even have a car, some people don’t have that much money… on that part you’re having the best life you can have.
To make sure that people are not gonna hate on me for this message: I BOUGHT the game. That’s not being spoiled. If you get games with buying them, then you’re spoiled. Some people don’t have any money for games and can’t buy them, you can… you’re more spoiled then them aren’t you? Now… what I read out of this message, are poor people not allowed to play games? Are they only allowed to play Facebook or free mobile games? Can’t they have the joy of Game Dev Tycoon, The Ship or The Sims 3 for example? May they not have the fun with games more fortunate people can get? Think about that.
That message wasn’t even directed at you, it was in response to Killertoad.
In response to your “logic” that making $8 an hour makes me spoiled, I offer this simple piece of wisdom: if you own a modern computer powerful enough to run recent video games, you’re not poor. You don’t have any money or food, but you have a high-end gaming PC AND plenty of free time to play video games? The more you talk, the more you sound like a lazy teenager, and the harder it is to take you seriously. You can’t afford games because you don’t have a job, and you can’t get a job because you’re thirteen.
I grew up poor. And I mean actually poor, not your skewed definition of poor. I didn’t get to eat every day. The only electronics my family had were an old TV and VCR we found on the roadside. We didn’t even own tapes for a long time, we borrowed tapes from other people. And this was with my dad working two jobs. If my dad had splurged on a gaming PC, we wouldn’t have to worry about not affording games because we’d have been homeless.
You’ve never gone hungry a day in your life. You’re just a whiny kid desperately defending your lifestyle. That you would go out of your way to attack me for a comment in no way directed at you proves my point. If you were half as poor as you claim to be, video games would be the furthest thing from your mind. You’d be worried about whether or not you can afford to eat today. If your parents aren’t giving you enough of an allowance, you ought to go around the neighborhood and offer to rake leaves for a little extra scratch. You know, instead of spending all your time inside playing on a functional, modern computer with internet access.
Since when do poor people have internet access and mobile phones? Those needless expenditures are the first thing to go when money is tight. And a computer that can run The Sims 3? Are you serious? Are we to assume the computer is stolen as well, or are you honestly suggesting that gaming PCs are a basic commodity that everyone has? I consider myself middle-class and I don’t even own a computer that powerful.
You define “poor people” as people who can afford gaming PCs, smart phones, internet service, mobile phone service, and who knows what else you’re thinking and haven’t said. That’s at least $200 a month in recurring expenses IN ADDITION TO food, rent, gas, etc. If you’re really that broke, did it never occur to you or your family that the money you use to pay for an internet connection can also be used at the grocery store?
I grew up without any of those things. My family didn’t even have cable until I was a teenager. If things go downhill, internet, phone, and cable will be the first things shut off. They’re luxuries, and luxuries can’t coexist with poverty. If things were to get really desperate, the phones, computers, and TVs would end up at the pawn shop in the blink of an eye.
A person who can say to themselves “I wish I could play The Sims 3 on my gaming PC, but I don’t have $60 in my pocket! I’d better torrent it for free with my high-speed cable internet.” is not poor. If they consider themselves poor, they never have been. Can you not see how impossibly warped your perspective is? You are so spoiled that you consider expensive gadgets and internet access to be as basic and necessary as running water. (fun fact: not everyone has access to running water, my ex has to hike a half-mile to a community well where she lives).
Think about that.
tl;dr You’re a spoiled brat. Stop acting like you’re poor, because it’s insulting to people who actually know what that word means.
are poor people not allowed to go to cinema if they don’t buy tickets? no they aren’t.
there’s no difference really. it seems that our economy system is well established and working, so please stop the financial arguments,or put them on a political platform. even in marxistic economy systems games aren’t free.
the internet isn’t free either. if you can afford an internet connection (and the hardware, and a place for the hardware), it’s quite unlikely that you’d starve because you bought this game.
Believe me, I’m not the rich spoiled guy you imagine me to be. Yes, I have a laptop and (basically) a desktop. Now let me say, I got my laptop on coincendence. We didn’t buy the laptop. I own a desktop because one of my uncle died, and I got the desktop. I have one tablet, for school. We have internet but does that make us rich people living in a mansion? Internet is something almost everyone has, even if you’re not having it at home there might be a place somewhere with Wi-Fi. Let me tell you, we don’t have enough money for food and other stuff, therefure we don’t have that much luxuries too. My dad doesn’t get his full salary and my mother doesn’t work because there are three children with me included. I have not gone hungry in my life as much as you would’ve been, but if someone has it better then you, are they spoiled then? No, they are not. You’re like you’re having the worst life in the whole universe and everyone having it a bit better then you is completely spoiled and a lazy teenager. ‘‘Oh my god, I don’t even get $8 dollars per hour, now you’re spoiled.’’. That basically your whole comment on mine. I’m indeed very much inside, but that’s because of reasons. I am not the most healthy person in the world and have quite a lot of diseases. I also have allergies which make buying food even harder, because the things are even more expensive for me. I don’t have a mobile phone, I don’t know where you are getting that from. Get proof before you actually say I have something. I have internet access because we have a router in our house which we use for more then only internet access. The Sims 3 isn’t even THAT hard to run, but you’re probably playing it on ultra settings. I never said I could run The Sims 3 optimally, I can’t even run Game Dev Tyoon without lag. Since when did I say I had a high-end computer? I do not have a high-end computer. I have to admit the desktop is very good but I didn’t bought it. I never said expensive gadgets and internet access are basic. I don’t have an iPhone or whatever other people have. I’m not a spoiled brat. I’m not acting. I know what that word means. Please research other people lifes first before you react with such an offensive post. You don’t know anything about me or any other people who are not having the best finance and other. You’re actually the one insulting here. 80% of your post is things you’ve made up to make a better post. The other 20% is not even true. You have no idea about other people you met on the internet, like me. So why would such an offensive post be needed? Now…
Go think about that and read your next post before posting it, because you’re not the most nice and/or smart guy on the world. You’re not knowing everything.
I never said I’d starve because of buying the game and/or internet connection. Read the full conversation before reacting about something totally different. -_-’’
I see a lot of butthurtness…
OH NO PIRATING IS BAD! IT’S STEALING (no it’s not idiot)
I pirated this game to test if I liked it, I did and I bought it. So I have it LEGAL (both are legal either way in my country)
Because If I like a game, I buy it to support the developers.
Being a smartass saying "There is a demo out, you don’t have to pirate it. You are dumb blablabla"
If I wanted to play a game that is limited as f**k, that does NOT really show you ALL the possibilities, I would download a demo.
If they made a demo, that makes the entire game playable for 1 hour, then but only then would I download the demo.
I tested, I liked it, I bought it.
It should not matter how I came around testing the game, it’s all about that I eventually bought it.
There are very few game forums that even allow the word “piracy” to be mentioned. Here at Greenheart Games we promote healthy, balanced discussions about piracy. Please respect this as a privilege and not a given.
