There are more % of pirate downloads than buyed…
I hate people downloading the pirate game… They get a game cool and free and dont support the developers with just a little amount of money ¬¬ and more, GreenHeart Games are Indie…
Hope all of the people in this forum have buyed it …
And the cool thing about GDT, they play with the pirate downloads with a message xd
I don’t support piracy, I’ve pirated a game to get the feel of it, because what if I buy a game, and then I don’t like it? If I like it, then I buy the game, but other than that, I don’t support it. I haven’t pirated GDT.
Some people don’t have the money for stuff like this. I don’t like to defend pirates, but really some people are just broke, really want something, and it goes down to that.
Piracy certainly is an issue, this is the reason why companies use DRM in their games which only puts genuine customers through more trouble than it’s worth (like Simcity and Diablo 3 for example). Being DRM-free is pro-consumer and shows they care about the customers but some of them just go ahead and pirate it because there’s no DRM in it to stop them from doing so and just discourages developers from going DRM-free with their games.
Most DRM is cracked within a day so it doesn’t really stop people from pirating it.There was an article on Gamespot with the guy that made the Witcher 3 talking about DRM if you can find it you should read it.
You don’t need to be surprised at the low sales numbers if you want to sell this about the “Windows Store”. If there was an alternative payment option, I would already have bought a copy for myself, too. I won’t submit to Microsoft and me make an annoying account.
At first, this was an issue for Greenheart Games. Then they stopped the flow of true full version, by planting in every pirated version, this:
“While a lot of people are playing our games, a lot of players are pirating the game to get it free. I regret to say that we will be bankrupt in a couple of months.”
I played the demo 2-3 times in one sitting before I decided to buy. I’m against piracy, but I do make an exception for abandonware. If there is absolutely no way for me to support the developer, what’s the point in buying a used copy from another person? So, no, I didn’t buy Another War or Gorky 17, but I probably would have if I’d heard of them when they were on the market.
I reveal that I have downloaded a complete version on The Pirate Bay , I just really try it , because I didn’t find a Demo . I´m too lazy to look for a demo . (I´m being honest)
And I liked it
What I did was , erase the pirated copy and buy it
I´m so happy with all these mods , worth buying it . And my apologize for downloading the Pirated Copy the first time . Feel really bad but now I own the game and I shared it with my friends
.
I wondered why simcity did the always-online DRM Thing… because they knew that pirates would download the game for free instead of just buying it. I Bought GDT Today and i got to say it is fun. and its only $10.00 on the steam and desktop, linux, and mac version and the windows store version is $8.00 but hey. its a good deal no matter what.
The idea behind always-online DRM is to get paying players to spend more money on in-game purchases and make it harder to loan or re-sell games. It has no effect whatsoever on reducing actual piracy, and I’d go as far as to say it encourages piracy by making the paid version harder to play and less fun.
That’s an attitude I see a lot of, actually. Some people only consider piracy to be what it is if they refuse to buy a game even if they like it. To me, that’s like saying it’s not shoplifting to eat out of a package on a store shelf and then not buy it because it tastes bad, when you would have paid for it if you liked it, but that “real shoplifters” are the people who don’t pay regardless. The general idea being that it’s not stealing if what you stole isn’t to your liking.
I prefer to get by on demos, myself, but I tend not to hassle people who follow that mentality because I’d end up alienating every one of my friends and relatives if I did.
