Pirate Downloads

When I first heard about Game Dev Tycoon I heard about all of the problems they were having with pirates. That most of the users had pirated the game rather than buying it. Well, as a future game developer that both terrified me, and pissed me off. I came to the website, looked up the game and fell in love with it right away, and bought it on the spot. I hope more follow suit, if you keep pirating games from these indie developers you are gonna see one vanish after another, don’t be a douche, buy the game ffs and support your indie developers, rather than cripple them.

No. Some games don’t have demos. I want to try a game before I buy it, and I don’t want to waste money considering I hardly have any of it currently.

This game had a demo. Whats your excuse, huh?

If the game doesn’t have a demo or any way for you to try it before you buy it, then the answer is simple: Don’t pirate it. Just don’t buy it. Simple.

I said I didn’t pirate it. What I didn’t say is that I played the demo. Don’t go around pointing fingers and yelling at people because of not wanting to waste money that they can hardly scramble up.

Piracy on PC, since mid 1980’s. (BBSs started showing up.)

His exact words:

“I haven’t pirated GDT.”

Read before you start accusing people of stuff.

Actually 8 bucks isn’t much compared to AAA titles. Steam also has some expensive games from 10-20€ that I want to buy and 8 isn’t that much. Unless you are poor of course.

Again, I didn’t pirate GDT. Read my words more carefully.

I’m not saying you did.

I not often but i do, use pirate version of game. But only to see if its worth to buy, i dont like demos, because everything there is blocked and you just cant play. When i like it i uninstall pirated version and buy the game. Many of pepole that download pirated versions just play them. I dont like it too, but I cant do anything with that.

I played the demo 5 or so times, then bought the game

Some people don’t have an extra 8 bucks to be “wasted” they may need that for gas? For food? For their kids to have clothes on their backs. Yes, piracy is bad, but sometimes, that is your only option.

Sounds like you have more important things to do with your life than playing games. Like getting a job to earn some money to buy some gas, food, and clothes for your kids. Yes, gaming is fun, but so is being a responsible adult, managing your finances, and not being another :green_heart: contributing to overpopulation in this world by bringing a kid into it.

Look, I pirated a few games that are on way off the budget (like >30€/$). And I understand people that do this. Even a kid could make 8 bucks in a week! If you are referring to the Extremely Low Citizen class then that’s probably what they are. Besides, how the heck they can have a wife (which requires an expensive marriage). kids (which takes a lot of money, responsibility) and a car (you can find the cheap ones of course) that needs constant gas to work. A bike would be much more cheaper and efficient by long terms.

These are important things to have, a must-have. There are obviously people without a wife or a man. There are people without cars. If you would have to choose: Wife & Car or 10 AAA-games? What would YOU go for? Get the Wife & Car is an obvious choice and therefore you might have no money left for the 10 AAA games. You’re totally looking at it wrong @glampkoo. Hope I freshed up your mind.

If people are like me,they are not quite old enough to get a job. Even if we are, we have other things to do, like school, so you can get a good job in the future. There is no need for you to be rude.

Say your parents have just enough to pay the bills (car, house, etc.) but not enough to just waste on a game, they may need that money? I don’t think you guys are getting the point, not everyone has money, many people just can’t afford it.

There’s a thing called a piggy bank. It saves your money.
And yes it’s true my parents have the right amount of money to pay the bills, the car and the food and education. Yes, we sometimes run out of food (like bread) and we have to wait 'till money appears. Whenever I have a little bit of money I put it on my bank. When the big sales come in, I exchange that money for paysafecard and upload to steam wallet and bam 1-2 games bought and I have some bucks left for emergency.

But that is you, not everyone is so fortunate.

Wow, you must have a hard life comparing even to mine (which isn’t that great).
