Modding and mods

I really hope there’s possible to make mods for this game! I’ve created several minecraft mods and would love to see a modding community here too! I got quite a few ideas for mods:

  • Longer (fantasy) storyline
  • More features
  • More random events
  • Random creation of other consoles after the storyline (and in it)
  • Other game developers (they contact you, etc)

SO! Will there be mod support?

there’s already mod support

That isn’t mod support, but breaking into the game files and changing the game INSIDE its main loop.

Yeah its basically changing your money, fans, research points and ETC. We want mod support that allows people to add features and ETC.

I agree, modders can keep game alive while developers work on new game

Once the developers include all the patches, then everyone can continue to build the game up.

Yeah modders will make your game much more better.

Good mods would make the game even better

Another suggestion for the developers:

  • Add a “mods” folder in the install directory so that people can easily add mods

Just imagine you start Game Dev Tycoon and there is actually a menu starting screen. And when you start making a game there is more features, sliders and elements that go into the review score.

Anybody going to post there opinion.

Im sorry, but your idea is confusing me…

Uh its about modding.

You don’t say but what are you actually saying

Add a forum for mods here, add mod support and make a mod folder for easy installation.

Fair enough, there is already mods here so you don’t really need more.

No thats only changing your money and stuff.

i agree to the topic the needs to be mod support so people can make game dev tycoon even better than what it is right now

Yeah I know right. The community could make it so much better.

I’ve been working on a mod API that will allow you to code mods that will be able to add new consoles, storyline events, research, contracts, etcetera. It will also not require you to break into the game’s code – you will just have to add the zipped mod into a mods folder, much like Minecraft Forge.

Because I have no intentions of spamming this forum, unless people are interested, I won’t put up any links. I’m just throwing this out there.

If/when I get it done, I’ll make the April 1st “expansion pack” in order to show off the API’s capabilities.
