1.4.2- Review System too overpowered

Getting hit games for every game I develop with the new review system on the Steam version of Game Dev Tycoon.

Which OS you are using? Windows 7 Pro SP1
Which Version of Game Dev Tycoon you are running? Steam 1.4.2

Wait, what do you mean exactly? Have you been choosing the correct genre and topic combinations and correct sliders and it just works? Maybe they removed the ‘Top Score’ mechanic where you have to beat that to get a hit…

EDIT:

This definitely needs investigation. The wikia needs to be updated too.

How far through the game are you?
Did you start a new game?

Thanks for the feedback!

Well actually I’m doing pretty badly right now, highest score is a 7 out of 3 games. D:

I moved 4 posts to an existing topic: Modding and mods

I am still in the garage and I started a new game.

Let us know how it goes when you move to the 2nd office

@Charlie got to the second office, and the review system is still overpowered. I made game Dev Tycoon and it got a 9, and then I made Vocabulary Tycoon, that got a 9, in the second office.

Possible you just made good games and deserved a 9?
Doesn’t matter you made 2 tycoons in a row.

Test with a random topic and random genre that make no sense together. If you still get a high review then its bugged.

If you set the sliders correctly, then it’s easily possible to get 9’s for a few games in a row, and the changes in 1.4 should make it a little easier to do so. It’s not really a bug unless you’re getting them without moving the sliders.

Also, try starting a new game with a clean save (no money cheats), turning off the hints , and not using the wiki. That should make the game a little harder for you :stuck_out_tongue:.

With version 1.4, the wiki is basically useless anyway, plus I’m feeling alone there so it probably will stay useless for quite some time.

From what I’ve seen so far, the reviews seem to be a lot nicer. Plus you can have 11/10 now ! (even though it doesn’t actually change anything to your sales), so that’s probably what he meant, that the game is easier.
