Unexpected end of input (fresh install from Humble Store)

I installed the direct download from the humble store (it might be a bugous installer) and it says:

Error Uncaught error. Please report this to support@greenheartgames.com: Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected end of input (file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Game%20Dev%20Tycoon/defaultBrowser.html:0) Please restart the game.

(When I have tried to activate steam version it says I already had it… Not sure from where, but who cares)

@Enerla create new topic with category “game-dev-tycoon bug” and paste your error code.
For steam version activation problem send e-mail to HB.

Well it seems their statement saying it was active on steam already was valid, but still unsure when and how I got it before.

@Enerla Sorry for the trouble. Do you see this repeatedly, when starting the game?
Do you have any anti-virus or other software running that might affect the execution?
Does the Steam version work?

Can you provide us with some more info about your system?

I’m sorry you see this issue. I just double checked and can’t reproduce the problem using the Humble download, nor do I see any other reports on this. Unfortunately this indicates that this might be caused by something specific on your machine.

It only happened on first launch, but even then after closing the error message the game worked. Then I installed the steam version. At first launch I got the message. But after that it no longer happened.

Windows 8.1, 64 bit, probably nothing that would interfere with the game. Only the standard defender is on this laptop no 3rd party antivirus. But issues can be a slow HDD and some multitasking.

Might be from Steam Family sharing. Our game supports that

Nah, family sharing wouldn’t make it active on steam account.

Not sure if it was in some bundles before, or on sale. But who cares

Probably the issue is: If I don’t like a game I just don’t even remember if I have bought it on a good sale… And I might end up buying multiple copies.

Okay, it isn’t as bad as with the games I love. For GTA: San Andreas: Have bought a physical copy, when the disc got a bit scratched, a secound copy… Then bought it on steam. Then steam had nice GTA bundles, and bought them as well.

And I certainly hope your next game will be better.

So, what about if you liked it or not, since you previously cherry-picked reviews, said nobody here had brain power and said the game wasn’t worth 1 dollar but now you are actually trying it?

Same here, but mine’s on Steam:

Error Uncaught error. Please report this to support@greenheartgames.com: Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected end of input (file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Game%20Dev%20Tycoon/defaultBrowser.html:0) Please restart the game.
