The new gaming PC i'm going to build - Would you do anything different?

Reddit would be a good place. I normally only buy from the Mod’s of the subfreddit.

And I recommend 8.1. It’s much faster, and it offers a 5%-25% performance increase over Windows 7.

i was going to get win 8.1, select boot to desktop and get some software to add the start menu, and then i can forgot metro ever happened

I have 8.1, and I never use metro. All my stuff I use are on my task bar, or on my desktop lol.

Yep, I think i’ll use classicshell to get the start menu back, aslong as i press the windows key on my keyboard i’ll be fine

Intel isn’t better? AMD has the exact same stuff as Intel has.

wrong! Intel is more stable it can run at higher temperatures I can just give u a whole list of the difference

Hi Im New This Is My First Post

Yeah Your Way Wrong And Here Is Why:

  1. AMD use a higher architecture on there cpus so more power is required so that means you need a bigger power supply
  2. AMD are not actualy 6 core or 8 core there are 3/4 core the others are virtual
  3. AMD’s single cores performance is shocking that using a program to benchmark each cores performance
  4. AMD’s Cpu’s dont have build in gfx cards were is intels does and actually piggy backs your proper gfx card to make it even better
  5. I have a AMD fx 6300 clocked at 4.6ghz and i cant even stream at 1080p because the memory bandwidth between each core is terrible.
  6. Why the hell do you think there so much cheaper.
  7. Intels i5 4670k wipes the floor with the highest AMD CPU.
  8. Don’t ask me why but i have self bench-marked on all tools like prime95 cinebench and i will be honest i dont know how the hell the i5 and i7 just absolutely kick ass ass at everything.

For Further Info About Compering CPU’s & GFX cards Check Out www.gpuboss.com & www.cpuboss.com

CPU I Would Swap It For A I5 4690k (plus you can overclock it to 4.5ghz easily) yes more expensive but so so much better for games and i mean 30-40 fps difference in games i cant explane it but i have you set up right there just a higher psu (750w) and i recently swapped it for a i5 4690k and i got a massive increase i couldn’t believe it

Change RAM to 16GB I have a windows that has 8 GB RAM and have a gaming windows with 16GB, and is MUCH smoother around playing games. Also put in a 500GB SSD, also much smoother. Also, GET win 8.1. It’s much more cooler than plain windows 7. Also get Intel i5 or i7 instead of AMD.

Well, 8GB is enough for now

GPU and CPU boss are s**t

You’re*. And why do you type in all caps?

  1. No, they normally don’t draw much power… The TDP is higher, which would make your electric bill go up by 10 dollars for the year?

  2. No, you’re wrong, they have that many cores… i7’s are the ones you’re thinking of. With 4 virtual cores (hyperthreading).

  3. Huh? Are you saying they are bad in single core performance? If so, then yeah, they are not good at that.

  4. Every heard of an APU? Yeah, they do have an iGPU. the FX series doesn’t, so they can be sold cheaper.
(Also, Intel’s integrated sucks? And piggy backs? You mean work together? No, they don’t? Lol, if you have a dedicated GPU, then you’re only using that GPU)

  5. …You have got to be kidding me. That has nothing to do with why you can’t stream at 1080p. It’s probably your internet? Lol…

  6. Because they don’t include a iGPU, they don’t have the best single core performance, and they are just a tiny bit slower.

  7. Yeah, it does. But look at the price difference? But everyone knows that AMD is for budget builds, while intel is better for higher end builds. I mean, a 6300 is priced at 109, cheaper than some i3’s, while being not a whole lot slower than a i5.

  8. Huh? You’ve made 0 sense. And you don’t know why they are better? But yet you know they are? I would tell you why, but that’d take forever to explain.

And gpu/cpuboss? HAHAHA, oh my goodness, couldn’t use a more baised site. Look at anandtech, they just show benchmarks. Not score it for you.

I bet you think nVidia is better, don’t you? hahaha.

Ram doesn’t help with gaming. You’ll never use more than 8 while gaming. The reason your 16GB one is faster, is probably because of the hardware…

An SSD would help in bootup times, but a 500GB one costs like, 300 dollars…

And AMD is the best he can fit in this budget, without dropping the GPU down. The 6300 will do fine.

You can’t just overclock it to that easily? You’ll need a good overclocking motherboard, a good cooler, and you gotta know what you’re doing to get it that high.

And no, there is no way you get that big of an increase. Only way is if you have like a 290x/780ti, lol, which I highly doubt. (And we all know why you can’t explain it, it’s because you don’t know.)

Don’t need a 750w psu? I’ve seen a overclocked 4790k and a 780ti on a 500w. And did you swap out your motherboard too? What motherboard did you get?

i agree with the intel suggestion but the 16 gb is not really required at the moment but if you can afford it hell yeah and the 500gb SSD i wouldn’t go for that i would go for a hybrid drive

For my budget, AMD is the way to go

i will agree on some things with you i will be honest i herd that in build gpu in the Intel work together not actually seen for my self so i apoligise for giving wrong info there but on the inter net side yeah its not slow i get 50mb upload with out going it to massive explanations its defiantly my cpu bottle-necking.

PS. I think we may have a Intel/Amd war going on now lol

what does net speeds have to do with anything

I will agree with you i was on a budget at the time around £400 for just the base computer and I’m using it still right now (I’m currently building a i7 based pc) i can stream some games in 1080p not all but, playing a game and streaming it is demanding anyway but yeah all in all my friend it a really good set up it does everything i need it to do. (runs watch dogs on ultra so im happy )
