Sick Of It- Sick of Low FPS In the Third Office/ Late Game

I am sick of the low FPS in the late game for Game Dev Tycoon. It drives me crazy. The FPS ruins my game experience. UGH, why can’t these fps be fixed, they are so easy to get fixed back to high levels.

Computer Model: Dell Inspirion N411Z
Operating System: Windows 8 Pro/WMC 64 bit

Hi

there are two things you can do.

First is to make sure your graphic driver is up to date.

Second is to make sure the game uses your nvidia card instead of integrated one (Intel HD Graphic). Judging from the specs I see, your laptop doesn’t have any dedicated card, so other than updating the driver I can’t say anything else.

Intel HD Graphics is updated to the latest version.

They will be fixed in future updates, such as the August Update, you only have to wait 1-2 months :open_mouth:

I have xfx HD 7970 - a very high-end graphics card , still lvl 3 office , lags like hell >.>

Thats not you, its the game dude…

Just because of this bug , I can never play the Lvl 3 office stage , it lags sooo much , its unplayable

I’m simply gonna stop playing this game , until they fix this critical bug

You can play? Where do you get this lag? As I play the highest level and I hardly get any lag, its just doing a development stage when all the bubbles are around meaning less FPS…the bug will be fixed in the 1.4 patch, as that one is for the huge bugs, but it might be fixed in the 1.3.10 patch too.

I cannot play, to the question : “where do you get this lag ?” , from the very beginning of lvl 3 office(final stage) and FPS dwindles simply from freezing the game to around 30+ , upon the completion of R&D lab and Hardware lab , the game gets crazy (10 FPS or lower)
Its not like I have legacy hardware or something

My Specs:
Intel i5 3570k
16 GB DDR3
HD 7970
Win 8 Pro x64

30FPS ain’t bad…its stable … :L

the problem is that it wont “stick/sync” at 30fps it dwindles crazily

@GameDevFan1000

Our minimum game specs are;
System Requirements: ~2GB RAM, graphics hardware acceleration, minimum resolution of 1024x768.

Does your machine exceed these? GPU hardware acceleration and RAM being the most critical things for gameplay.
People using notebook/laptops with low quality integrated graphics chips instead of GPU cards will suffer in this area i’m afraid.

We are releasing a Performance patch within a few months but it will only help people whose specs exceed our minimum requirements.

You can try defragging your hard drive, making sure you have no other background programs running especially Anti virus. These things will help performance of any program.

@SpartanXI

Do you have a steady 30fps? or does it stutter (a type of lag which comes and goes in sharp increments)?
Antivirus and other background programs can cause stuttering. Please try the game on a fresh reboot with no background programs running. Also please defrag your drive as this can help performance.

I have over 2GB of RAM and the minimum resolution is at 1024 x 768 and I have integrated graphics(Intel HD Graphics with my Intel Core i5 processor)

If you could run DXDiag by;
Pressing the win key (thats the key with the windows flag on it) + R and type into it dxdiag - Hit Enter.
After the DirectX Program has launched let it detect all your settings then hit the save all information button and save the .txt file on your desktop. You can then send that to me at support@greenheartgames.com

That would help us examine which systems Game Dev Tycoon will and won’t run well on. It may be specific integrated chips that suffer. Also in this case Windows 8 states that it needs 2gb ram minimum, thats just for the OS, so it would be great to see your exact amount of ram which the DXdiag will provide.

Received DX Thanks!

Received DX and have emailed back.

The option to switch off the little bubbles would assist with performance greatly. I also find that the switch between R&D, Office and Console area (forgive me but I forget the name right now) is extremely laggy. A button to switch instead of dragging the screen may help. My laptop and PC exceed the requirements and are up to date but I do notice some strange lag once in awhile. It hasn’t reached a point where it’s unplayable but the switch between R&D and Console screens are extremely low FPS and do freeze the game for about 30 seconds or more.

Hey,

I am compiling a list of DirectX Diagnostics so if you could send yours to support@greenheartgames.com that would be great.

You can use the arrow keys to switch between labs if that helps!

another thing that could help performance is to combine all bubbles that appear into one big bubble for bugs, tech, design, and research points.

The performance patch will be released soon and we will re-assess the situation.
Hopefully people with systems who meet or exceed our recommended requirements will see a noticeable improvement.

Also we are putting together a more intricate minimum & recommended specs which will state processors, Graphics cards and vram Requirements etc. This will hopefully help people with Laptops and Notebooks examine what is causing the performance related lag.

In the meantime if anyone experiencing FPS problems could send their DXDiag to me at support@greenheartgames that would be great. Here is a “How to by Microsoft”;

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows-vista/run-directx-diagnostic-tool

This will help us make sure we get our specs spot on.

For anyone who wants to check their own system performance there are some 3rd party tools that can help;

Windows Desktop Gadgets - CPU meter
This will measure in real time your ram and cpu usage.

Future Mark - http://www.3dmark.com/3dmarkvantage/
This will give detailed reports on your graphics capabilities
