Save Games & All Achievements gone

All my saves are gone, when click play via steam : there are no save game whatsoever…

But when I start the game manually from the game folder, all my saves are back there… But I could not connect to steam (by clicking shift+tab as usual).
It’s like there are 2 copies of the game in my PC…

Anybody have any idea what should I do? :frowning:

@Belphegor happened to me to

This happend to me to, however, the next day all of my saves were suddenly back.

Hey @Belphegor Is this issue continuing or did it reset itself?

@Charlie : Just checked… Still the same problem :frowning:

I would suggest a force resync with the cloud. Back up your save files first.

  1. In your Steam Library, right-click on Game Dev Tycoon and select “Properties.”
  2. Click the “Updates” tab.
  3. Uncheck “Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for Game Dev Tycoon.”
  4. Click “Close.”
  5. Repeat to turn it back on. At the bottom of the Steam client you will see a green download progress bar.

Tried that, still not working…
I’m trying to re-install the game on steam library now, hope this will work…

Still not working… I dont know what else to do…
Perhaps I’m dstined to start the game all over again… sigh

i am having the same problem. tried the cloud resync trick but it didn’t work. fyi i also previously had the game installed standalone (non steam), however I uninstalled that before redeeming my steam key. Not sure if it makes a difference.

Heya and welcome to the forums!

We are sorry to hear about your saves being lost.
Steam cloud is great for people who own one pc and use the service for reinstalling and re downloading save games (In case of Hard drive formats and new hard drives etc).

However when the Steam cloud service is used to transfer saves between 2 different machines problems will occur if the ‘Steam Cloud Sync Time’ is not completed successfully.

Both machines must have a strong internet connection during the final save procedure. The save game with the newest timestamp is always uploaded to the Steam cloud and will replace any older saves even though they may have hundreds of hours of gameplay.

This means if people use the Steam cloud service when their laptop is offline and start a new game then go online to save it. This save game will replace any existing saves.

Another factor to consider is ‘Steam Cloud Sync Time’ At the end of a session the user must allow the machine enough time to upload the saves to the cloud. This is usually very fast but if the user has low speed or intermittent internet this can take much longer. If Steam sync time is not completed, the saves will not be uploaded, or partly uploaded and may become corrupt when downloaded from the Steam cloud service.

thank you for the response. i alt-f4’d out of the game and put the computer into sleep pretty quickly. it’s possible that this interfered with the cloud operation.

on the plus side I did start over and enjoy making a whole new company!
