I can only edit the game save once. When I edit the save, everything runs smoothly but when I try to edit it again, The game freezes after you press continue game. I made a back up of my localstorage file before it was edited and I tried replacing the corrupted localstorage file with my original one, the game still freezes at the main menu.
Heyas, I was wondering how/can you use the engine part editor?
You can’t at the moment. It was experimental for a short time, but with other issues popping up it was disabled since it had a few of it’s own. I think he plans to approach it again once other bugs are worked out.
Wow, the call for save games was responded to incredibly well. Thank you everyone that sent your save in, and any more information you gave!
I think I have enough information for now to keep it going. Editing stats definitely seems to be a common denominator in these issues, so if you’re unsure or haven’t got a backup, just change your cash. This is easily enough advantage to get far in the game.

no I just bought the game and it is so stupid to cheat in a game that you bought, it just ruins the all game you idiot
Rather than insulting people for doing it, you could simply just…Not use it.

Changed my savegame. played it “for days” and quit… next day continuing my save. aaaaand it freezes.
I just edit Research Points , avoid to go freeze , but still , the game freezed 
Does this work for the demo version?

Also as a friendly reminder, if you damage your save game with this tool, we cannot help you. Therefore if you get an error message, please start an unedited game and double check the error before contacting us at support.

Hey Guys,
At the moment, and for the upcoming 3-4 weeks, I’m not really going to have the time available to keep looking into these problems. I’ve fixed some inconsistencies in the save model and will be releasing an update before I shelve the project for a while, but these may not address all the current issues.
I may or may not release a different implementation that will allow you to modify money and research points only, if there is enough interest. This won’t be rebuilding the whole save so you’re far, far less likely to encounter any problems with freezing.
If there are any Java developers who don’t mind diving into terrible code, send me an email or pm me and I’ll give you access to the repository. You should see an update coming out over the next few days.

Sadly we seem to be past July.
I get an error that say’s “Didn’t modify some slots as they have less than 3 games developed which causes the game to crash Slots: 1,auto” PLEASE HELP!!!
From what I can tell, the structure of the save has been changed in the database save file. I wouldn’t attempt to use the save game editor at all.
If you have botched your saves, delete all of the files in the save game directory and you can start over the game over from scratch, there is no other recovery process. The directory is under ‘C:\Users\your-user-id\AppData\Local\Game Dev Tycoon\Local Storage’.
