I’m fine with the way it is.
Okay we’re past the initial sales/reviews barrier, it can only get easier than this. (hopefully, but I doubt it)
Plus Lineliar, could you send me your console description and stuff, it makes comparing console sales easier. I sent a PM with the what I need, thanks.
What’s the word on merchandising and tie-ins? Are we doing any of that, or just games?
I’ll go with yeah for now. Merchandising was a important strategy in the 80s (R.O.B for example). What do you mean by tie-ins, though?
Like a tv series or movie produced for promotional purposes. Kind of like how the Pokemon games have cards, toys, etc. (merchandise), plus the cartoon and movies (tie-ins), but the video games were first and are still the core of the franchise.
Sure, sounds good.
Later on, I might begin to do specific lists similar to GDT (small, medium and large) for marketing so prices are easier to figure out.
So i take it i got 7.5% then
sorry early morning here and i am forced to go to work on a vacation day.
1.3% or 130k…it should cover the licensing charges
okey thanks now i know conversion rate 1% = 100k ^^
and i shall work on the next game soon, well after work and celebrating dad on a swedish holiday thingy. so expect a ingame post in about 12-15 hours ish.
Send you a PM.
Due to kind permission from @Drakiren I’m going to show a rough example of how you can make a game report that you can PM to me for review and sales.
Since i know that And they came! was the first game of that playthrough it has like no feature whatsoever in that sense.
I think linear story and Mono Sound.
But since it is a Textbased Alien Strategy Game, It gives it a bit more leway with having multiple endings and so on.
Game Architecture
The game itself is story driven, and thus the player get a wall of text with a Pixelated picture on the right side.
The player then gets to choose an action which progresses the story based on that.
Each new Page, has a continuing of the story and a picture that reflects on the action. and more choices are there to progress the story.
The pictures are simply Dots that are colored and put together. (i can link an actual Dot picture if you want but i guess you can find them easily by yourself if needed.)
The Story
The story follows you as the President of United States of America in 1984, When Nasa comes and tells you they have picked up a signal from behind the dark side of the moon, and asks you for extra funds to investigate, Your Minister of Defense is Present and tells you that the funds should be to research a new space plane that is Militarised.
Third option is to convey to the senate.
The story will progress with Aliens soon to invade and each decision will bring you closer to victory, or defeat.
You will pass certain laws, decide to raise taxes or lower them. more funds for science,Diplomacy with other countries and at rare events the aliens, For space defences, building weapons and so on and so forth.
It uses a calculation script as a calculator to go through the processing of numbers.
One for the funds, One for Support of your actions, And a few for military purposes of you, Your allies and of course the aliens.
Otherwise it is simply pre determined and a written story based on those actions, linked with the pictures.
The music is what you expect from 8-bit, only thing is that it is slower when the story is slow. faster paced at more action times.
The game comes on a Floppy Disk and it have no box where it came with or instruction manual of actually playing the game.
As far as of marketing… well that is pretty much your newspapers that test the game.
Since this game doesn’t include marketing, it’ll be in the next example I post.
Due to kind permission from @Akamadoushi, I’m able to show you a rough example of how to make a marketing report for a product to help boost sales:
Astrid’s Pony Tales
The TV advert for Astrid’s Pony Tales features both gameplay footage and original animation. It depicts the default protagonists defeating fiends, set to Twilight by Electric Light Orchestra. The magazine ads have screenshots from the game, original drawings of the default protagonists fighting some fiends, and a brief description of the game. The animation in the TV advert and the drawings from the magazine ads do not appear in-game, they are simply promotional materials.
Voidrunner
There are two magazine ads for Voidrunner in circulation. One features screen shots, drawings, and a description much like Horse-Drawn’s other ads. The other is a full-page photo of a real-life Primrose (in actuality, an extreme close-up of a scale die-cast model). It has no weapon attached, but a machine gun and a cannon (also actually die-cast models) lie in front of it. The words “GEAR UP” are printed below. In the bottom-right corner, “Voidrunner” is printed, along with the Horse-Drawn Games logo.
Beta Update (Feedback will be accepted until it becomes official)##
Marketing Campaign Costs:
Mini: 2.5%
Small 7.5%
Medium: 25%
Large: 50%
Mega: 100%
Note: I used the GDT rate except multiplied it by 5 due to higher starting money and added the 50% campaign to fill the large gap.
If my recent post is too wordy, I can trim it and send the important bits to MacDon in a PM.
Also, should I set a new marketing/merchandise budget now or shall I wait until you finalize your campaign costs?
ahaha i must be stupid the % is the currency lol i thought 100% was 100% of every penny you had "silly me"
anyway. good job guys so far, havn’t posted a lot but been bit busy and well got a new computer… so i have no saves any more
but that will be no issue.
And quick question was 7.5 = in units sold or income?
If units Sold then i’ll just calculate everything and raise my % bar.
and Akam i love your posts beacuse well a lot of information and you might have noticed i based mine to match the description you do, beacuse well it looks better and is more informative so keep up the good job, they inspire me to try to write the games better ^^
Well. I am back from my… Stuff. Time to try and sign up.
Xhanada Yingzin
Company: Bamboo Cane Inc
(Possible console if any is free. If I understood right, we are at the 8 bit era? If not, and no spots a re free, ignore this part.) The Cane. The cane is a rather straight hardware copy of Gamewagon, only with TWO floppy drives. The console itself has the price tag of 200$.
The company’s first game would be Spintaroid, a action platformer focusing on a robot who moves by spinning, made for (if it is allowed) The Cane, and Gamewagon.
((Could also use a situation update for this old RP veteran.))
Wow, that’s quite the compliment. Thank you!
Welcome Back Xhanada, and Akam no need to thank me ^^
Mac, Check your PMs
