This is not important. It can’t do any harm, from what I have seen, and it can’t be easily exploited.
I have found a bug where you can research any available tech while you develop a game. The bug is that you can get the research action to appear by clicking the mouse pretty fast. It can’t be exploited because the player does not do any work towards the game while they research. It does take the money though for the research.
Also I have only tested this on the garage level.
