My Exe file for Game dev tycoon is not found

I have played on this game before the update. And recently also recently went through files and probably by mistake deleted the exe. So after we downloading the installer, it stops with the game dev tycoon exe saying it having trouble moving it or renaming it.

I am running on a windows xp but I have played this game on this computer and never have had this problem until I recently gone on file deleting spree. (thought the file was useless.) Please help or respond.

Tried Win XP search options?

Let it browse all your files and folders for “Game Dev Tycoon”

I came home from my work the other day, and my .exe file was missing. I tried reinstalling the game, but it would’n’t install the .exe file… It is really really strange

Game Dev Tycoon is often matched as a false positive by anti-virus programs. These have a habit of deleting files without warning. For this reason, it is recommended that you disable your AV during the installation process. Once running, the game shouldn’t be flagged by most AVs, but if it is, then the probability is low that your save files were affected, so reinstalling the game should allow you to continue where you left off.

As for accidentally deleting the EXE yourself, then you could try running a tool like CCleaner and forcibly uninstalling the game to allow for a fresh new install (save games should still be preserved).

Jay I tried your suggestion and it did not work. It seems like it is gone lol

Now I tried yours and the outcome was the same. The exe file was unable to install.

seems similar to the reported issue here.

I’ve tested this myself and reproduced the issue:

What AV program are you using?

It seems the most recent update of Avast has flagged our files as dangerous. This is a False Positive and can be avoided by following the guide in the linked Post.

We got an email from Avast simply stating:

False positive detection. We are sorry. Our virus specialists have
been working on the problem and our virus definitions will be updated.
