When I’ve completed the three main stages of game development, and development moves to the “Finishing…” phase, the user interface freezes. The game continues, but unless I wake up the interface by popping up a menu, the screen will stay as-is.
Clicking “Finish” works as expected, though, and after doing so, the game continues.
I’m running Debian wheezy on an AMD64 machine, and this is a bug with the 1.3.1 .deb version.
Initially, I thought this was a joke. This bug manifests itself when I try to close the tutorial dialog on bugs. The dialog got stuck while it was fading out, and since I didn’t have a menu at that point, I couldn’t get it unstuck, except by clicking the invisible “Finish” button.
I’m sorry about this issue you are experiencing. We’ve taken note of the issue and Daniel and Patrick will review it and see if we can’t get a fix out ASAP.
I have the same problem with 1.3.9 and I hate it. Mainly evertime the screen freezes during the bug fixing phase. You can unfreez it by clicking somewher on the screen so a menu opens. Sometimes it helps, but sometimes the screen freezes again.
@gnor: could you try to reproduce this issue on Ubuntu or (if you can’t see it on Ubuntu) on Debian wheezy?
@Rhymoid are you running the game in windowed mode? If yes, does it also happen in full screen mode? Sorry for not responding earlier. When this was reported we were overwhelmed with messages and issue reports and unlike Tyler’s message suggests we did not actually review this. Sorry about that. We’ll try to get to the bottom of this now but we can’t promise a fix until we know why this happens. From what I see this seems to be a issue with node-webkit (the technology our game runs on) rather than our game code. We certainly don’t see this issue on other platforms. In any case, once we can reproduce it, we should be able to investigate this better.
I can confirm the bug is in the latest version of the game, unfortunately.
I’m running Debian 7.2 (wheezy), amd64, the game is in fullscreen mode (1366x768). I also can unfreeze UI by pressing ‘Esc’ twice (i.e. going to main menu and back), but that doesn’t help always, for some strange reason.
1.4.5 doesn’t contain a fix for this bug. I’m sorry to say but we have never been able to reproduce this issue. @gnor tried to troubleshoot it but I don’t think that we ever got a save game that would demonstrate the problem and all our testing on linux distros didn’t result in the issue.
