[LINUX] Cant open Steam overlay

Confirmed with @DKWRECKER too

I just installed GDT on my brand new Linux installation, and was in the mods menu. I got a message from him and tried to open the Steam overlay but couldn’t, it didn’t work. I tried clicking out of the mods window, closing it, going ingame etc. Nothing worked. Ironically he actually told me in the message I was trying to open the Steam overlay to look at that “So you installed GDT? You wont have a Steam overlay like me then :green_heart:”. This is definitely a bug

My PC: Ubuntu 14.04, Unity desktop environment with Noveau drivers
DKWRECKER’s PC: Xubuntu, KDE desktop environment with unknown drivers

Hopefully @PatrickKlug or @DanielKlug can fix this  We are here for testing if you need. I can confirm that the Steam overlay did work before when using Ubuntu, but it doesn’t now of some reason.

If any other Linux-ers could confirm this, that would be nice

I found another interesting thing.

When forced to open the workshop after I uploaded AnytimeVacation, the Steam overlay appeared.

I cant close it, neither can I interract in the background. The music is on however. The overlay is also broken and cant be used.

Confirmed on another node-webkit game. (Qbqbqb) Steam overlay doesn’t function. @PatrickKlug

Hah, i saw you play that

Won it from a giveaway on http://gamingonlinux.com  Great game!

unfortunately this seems to be a problem with steamworks itself. it was always a bit unstable on linux. there is not much we can do from our side.

Could you possibly contact Valve? I dont think they would be too happy with the overlay on SteamOS not working…
