A clock ingame which shows time based on your timezone.
I’d like to have more depth with the GRID digital distributor, having some actual control over it would be awesome.
Add the ability to CUSTOMISE your engines post-creation. Having to create an entirely new engine from scratch just to add stereo audio or gamepad support? Egh. That’s just…no… just no.
Ability to export game info (title, genre, scores, etc.) to .csv or something that could go into Excel… or a PDF exrtract… some sort of reporting.
Extend the story line, more offices, more hardware, more staff
I would like to add support for eyefinity setups.
Randomized events to add replayability. Maybe a historical mode (what we have now, where the game events=what happened in real live) and a random mode where events would be different every time (Sega Genesis kicks the pants off of SNES, Commodore actually beats PC).
I think it would be nice (and more realistic) if you could make multi-support game or ports, or affect a little the hardware market after a legendary game…
I would link the music you can hear in the game to the audio technology level you are developing games with… so it starts out crude and beepy… then goes all 8 bit, then 16, then 64, before ending with sweeping soundtracks in surround sound… obviously this will be too expensive to implement fully, but i think a flavour of it could add a bit of atmosphere and immersion… with a sonic feeling of progress as you develop from beeps to 16 bit stereo…
ps where’s the zx spectrum?
You can edit the game in memory when it’s running to give yourself any score you like. This would not work.
New game category: “Free to Play”, unlocks technologies like “Microtransactions”, “Premium Currency” Etc. Basically become a FTP developer like Zynga. But if you do this all your best employees get unhappy and quit and you get the worst reviews ever, but you still make millions
If I could sum up my entire feeling on this question it would be:
“Could be more.”
By which I mean, if that was all the feedback I gave, it would be very difficult for you, the developers to know how to improve your game in order to get better reviews/improve the experience of people playing the game, and thus increase sales. Having reviews such as ‘could be more’ without any other information in the game to cue you in as a player as to how you can improve the games you’re making is a frustrating experience in an otherwise fairly compelling game. And I’m often left wondering how to do things better. Reading a wiki should not be mandatory to enjoy the game.
Not playing against you own top game scores.
Before i knew that mechanic, i hired two very good people and pushed my top game score through the roof. Then everything else is got review ratings of 1-3 and i went bankrupt.
Ok so first I think there are many great suggestions here. A ingame clock will be helpful so I know how long I am playing, and am not late to stuff again. Random events would be cool, like with a %50 that Govodore overtakes PC, etc. Since these are all said, I am just saying how much I like them here is my suggestion:
Sub companies, and buying other companies. It would be cool to make a sub-company for development of a certain series, like my Strategy series, so then you could make more games a t once. Also buying companies would be cool, like add a option where you can check what companies are in finical trouble, and make a option to buy them out and make them a part of your company. They could keep their name and staff, you would get all their money, and tell them what games to make.
It would be great to have some competition/challenge (example: Try to complete the game without using the pc as a platform) for unlock some extra Topics or other things.
Ok. I read the whole thread and i definitely think what i want to see most in the game is others companies competing against yours. Would add a lot of challenge if they grow in number/strenght by the time and a good replayability if they are random. Also, with the ability to buy them it would add an objective to have a perfect end. And it would be top-notch if their games could influence the market so you have to adapt your production to compete in the game dev race.
Make me think of an other game developping game i have a lot of fun with, where companies were really jackals you wanna blow up, adding a motivation to do top-sellers games. Don’t know if i may drop it name here…
I would like to see the game engine which i used for every game in the game history. Or can i look it up somewhere else?
A profiling system so you can have more than one company at one time.
Make the story longer. Why not make up the PlaySystem 5 or the mBox Infinity or the Invento … NiiU2, keep it going for like 50 years instead of the current 30, seems like by the time you’ve figured out a good strategy the game is already over.
Being able to change the game’s title after starting development. Because releasing Game #47 by accident is kinda… Weird.
