If you could change/improve/add ONE thing in Game Dev Tycoon, what would it be?

–Balor-- you can’t set the price for publishing works.

Alright there we go, haha.

under Gaming History when you view a game there should be a button to show you what features were in the game. engine, level design, graphics and what features were put into the game like controllers, sround sound and so on.

make a game for more platforms.

More randomness to the slider/time allocation settings in order to get a quality game with good reviews.

It is logical that a Sports based game requires little focus on dialogues, but hey, adding features that belong to other genres can work. It would add some realism to the game as it could reflect innovation and a surprise element to hit games.

A non fixed “Release date” for games" Allowing you to develop for as long as you like. Unless you are working under the publisher.

I think from what I have seen so far, When you move the bars for dev cycles, it moves the others respectively.

percentages shown on dev bars (graphics, sound etc.)

Have employees reduce their salary when your cash is red, with them saying “Hey Boss, I know we are not so rich right now, so I don’t mind you lowering my salary till we have enough money.” But not all employees do that.

A more comprehensive dynamic market that extends on the random “Genre X is popular right now” events that pop up currently. Each genre and platform could have a popularity stat that randomly increases or decreases over time to force players to adapt.

I realise that this is a stretch but, how about being able to emply enough people to have specialists in all nine areas of development when making AAA games, I don’t know if this is the reason but I struggle to ratings of higher than 6/7 on the games where as I can get 9/10’s medium/large games…

A more detailed feedback on the game vote: sometimes I get poor reviews and I don’t have a clue on the reason.
I want to learn from my mistakes!

you dont need specialists for all categories. I had several large and AAA games witz 9+ ratings and had only 2-3 specialists in my team.

After creating a New Engine with better abilitys like a engine befor, to sell the old Engine

Calculate the score of your game by comparing it to your previous games in the same genre, not your best all-time games.

It feels silly and unfair that if I have been specializing in Adventures and RPGs, and then branch out to Casual Action, everybody hates my Angry Birds because it isn’t as good as my Planescape Torment was. The game’s supposed to reward me for innovating, but in practice it penalizes me for trying something that I could do an adequate effort at, but which isn’t my core competency.

Modifying already developed engines.

(I’ve almost completed the game and i made an engine called (VoxL Final)
And then i got a message : NEW RESEARCH (Simple Development Kit)

Well, I had a whole list of suggested changes, the first of which is an ingame clock so I don’t accidentally miss a class. Since I can only choose one feature to change or add…

An option to have my games beta-tested/reviewed before final release. If I get feedback that it isn’t designed properly, or it is too similar to something else I published, then I’ll consider scrapping the game before publishing. Even if I’m paying out money and waiting for the contract work to finish.

Modified engines could be another interesting game choice with Pro’s and Con’s. It might be faster and cost less, but the probability of bugs appearing in your games could go up.

I was thinking more of Double cost and Double time for implementing new features.
Example 2D graphics v2 200k and 20 seconds into a new engine
Double on existing.

Being able to hire additional staff that will help you run the buisness better in minor ways such as receptionists and marketers. Maybe also allowing interns that could help develop games without pay but might do something like add more bugs as they do due to their inexperience.

Release major patches to MMO games that would bring people back to play it, instead of a whole expansion.
