Seriously? ^^
where is the bug?
“Game Dev and Strategy-Simulation is a bad combination”
That’s a terrible combination, whats wrong with that? Strategy means like an RTS game, are you going to select a bunch of engine parts and move them over to the developer or what? ;p
Game Dev + Simulation is fine, but strategy is like war games, think Command & Conquer or Civilization, games like that.
On Steam Game Dev Tycoon is marked as “Strategy” and “Simulation”.
Then they are wrong aren’t they ;p It’s possible steam’s idea of strategy is much looser than that in Game Dev Tycoon which pretty much means RTS or Turn Based Combat.
Yes, that’s true.
They often mix up the genres.
In GDT, the genre that comes first is the primary genre. So GDT itself is a Simulation with Strategy elements, not a Strategy game with Sim elements. That’s why you got a bad combo. You might get a better deal if you swapped the two round (so Sim first, then Strategy), but the best option to recreate GDT is Sim only.
I gotta ask something there …
What’s a Racing Simulation?
A simulator that resembles real racing, or a simulator that makes you the manager of a racing event?
Then Need For Speed would be next to action, but is racing and shooting aliens the same genre?
I thought Steam listed GDT as a Casual/Simulation game. Aren’t Casual and Simulation both Great Combinations for the Game Dev topic?
Wouldn’t casual be jump’n’runs, puzzle games, card games and such?
Kairosoft is an example of a company producing Casual games, and they don’t produce any of those things you mentioned.
I think in Game Dev Tycoon’s nomenclature, Puzzle games can be listed as Strategy. I mean, a Vocabulary/Strategy game doesn’t strike me as a War of Words so much as a Word Puzzler.
