Tech Reference Guide
1977-1982:2D Graphics v1, Fairchild Channel F, Atari 2600, Magnavox Odyssey 2, Intellivision, Atari 5200, Vectrex, Emerson Arcadia 2001, Colecovision, Bally Astrocade, my console and whoever else’s console. Portable games are basically their own system, just with the game’s name only, instead of a system. Yeah sure, there was the Microvision and Epoch, but thos were really stupid. Sorry. It’s realistic, not historically accurate. PCs are just IBM PCs. Blech. Dem beige boxes.
1983-1987:2D Graphics v2, Online gaming on BBSs is available, Text-based 2D Graphics v1, SG-1000 and 2000, Famicom/NES and Master System, Atari 7800, Vic-20, Commodore 64, Commodore Amiga.
1988-1992:2D Graphics v3, 3D Graphics v1, Not much updates on BBS games/door games. Whatever. Turbo-Grafx 16, and yes, I know it was released in JP in 1987, but remember, only realistic, not our world. Mega Drive/Genesis, Super Famicom, SNES, Neo-Geo AES, Cd-i, but who’s gonna make a game for that piece of garbage? The highest score allowed on that thing is a 6. Gameboy, Atari Lynx, Sega Game Gear, TurboExpress, but that thing is instantly gonna get your TurboGrafx 16 game on it, since it basically was just a TurboGrafx 16. Left out some random weird consoles.
1993-1995:2D Graphics v4, 3D Graphics v2, Online gaming becoming a more common thing on home computers, console-level graphics on PC gaming and online gaming from now on. 3DO, Atari Jaguar, Sega Saturn, Sony Playstation. Leaving out N64 because @@@@ you guys. Keep that in the next gen. Sega Nomad gets all your old Genisis games. Virtual Boy, Game.com, Gameboy Color, Neo-Geo Pocket, Neo-Geo Pocket Color, Wonderswan, Wonderswan Color.
1996-1997:2D Graphics v5, 3D Graphics v3, Online gaming spreading, bigger servers, more popularity. N64.
1998-2004:2D Graphics v6, 3D Graphics v4, Online gaming now mainstream stuff baby. Dreamcast, oh poor Dreamcast, PS2, (More like PS-@@@@ you if you make a game for this system-2,) Xbox, Gamecube. GBA, N-gage, Tapewave Zodiac.
2005-2011:2D Graphics v7, 3D Graphics v5, Not much updating on Online games, MMOs now popular. Xbox 360, PS3, Wii. NDS-NDSi, PSP. Unwanted consoles kept out for a good reason.
2012-2017:2D Graphics v8, 3D Graphics v6, Same stuff for online games, will not update from now on, only internet speed changes. Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, more?.. 3DS-2DS lel, PS Vita.
2017-2022:2D Graphics v9, 3D Graphics v7, You get it for online. Xbox (?), PS5, Dreamcast 2 ***holes. Nintendo dies. PS Vita updated to support PS5 games. Game Gear Superior.
And then the list goes on, do the math, you decide generations will pass, but reasonably. Have fun!

LET’S START THE PARTY!

On his very own birthday, Jack White, an average engineering school graduate has released a new action-packed game for the new Atari 2600! It is called B-Bomber, and in it you play as a bomber plane in 1942 bombing German bases! The game is fun and addicting, and it is no doubt going to make it big on the market! Today, video game history has been made!

Multi User Dungeon (MUD)

October 12, 1977

A company named “Pixel Studios” has been created today.
A game developer known by nothing other than “Pixel” is the CEO/Founder, and has already released a game for the PC, despite the company just recently forming. The game is titled as Multi User Dungeon, or MUD. It is a multiplayer game, allowing players to play with friends through a database at the companies’ HQ. When players join the game, a connection is established to the database. If the connection works, players can play with friends. It got a score of 9 overall.

Pixel will be giving away free copies of the game as contests. He was quoted saying,
“Multi User Dungeon, or MUD, will be glad to get more players. Just enter the contest.”

Canadian game developer Jordan Richardson has Formed a Company, Mythical Games! :D. He is well known in canada for his games he developed for Atari, and Coleco. He has hired a small staff and moved out of his mother’s garage in canada and into a small office in Upstate New York. He has also announced, to compete with MUD, Their very first Multiplayer Not Online Game! The company says it is a 2d Spelunking Platformer, where the players may play co-op to reach the end of the level. The company has announced that the game will be sent to stores across North America for the Atari 2600 on October 27, 1977. And when asked about MUD, they criticized Pixel Studios and said that an online only game will overwhelm any server and cause many errors and bugs, and will be a huge money sink.

//Comments, Thanks for remaking this Zayo, and i love how you gave the legit history of consoles.
//Comments, There are no online games in 1977. There was barely internet, Apljee

October 23, 1977

It seems that some copies of the new game from Mythical Games which is officially getting released in North-America on October 27 are leaked! Earlier on in the development on their new game there already were gameplay screenshots and music used in the game leaked. This is all because of some robbers in North-America who stole one copy of their new game and made it available online for free. This will have a negative effect on the sales of their game and we’re waiting for a statement from Mythical Games. We would look forward to any people who might know the people which stole the copy and attend them to the nearest Police Station to their home. We will see how this story will unfold and we will keep you all up to date.

//Coments, bulletin board systems have been around since 1973.

(( Can I please make forums for this? I think it’d make it easier to RP. You could admin them if you’d want. ))

(( Radical, I got internet through magikz. ))

“The MUD Crash”

MUD had a database error. All of the player stats, items, inventories, and homes have been wiped to prevent the error. 10 thousand gold pieces is being given to all people who lost things. Pixel was heard quoting “I am very sorry for all of the inconvenience. I hope MUD players will still keep playing. We have patched it and this error will never occur again, even in future versions of MUD. Sorry.”

MUD Update list:

  • All player data wiped
  • 10 thousand gold for each player
  • Fixed error 34
  • Fixed error 83
  • Fixed error 27
  • Added a new boss, Red Unidragonarwhal
  • MUD 2!???!!1!?!

MUD (Multi User Dungeon)

October 25, 1977

Just a day after a patch which in the update notes, it had said about MUD 2, MUD is going for a sequel.

“I hope this game has better online stability.” A fan quoted.

MUD 2 Will have more bosses, more dungeons, more online, and maybe even some DLC. A speech was said at GamesCon '77

“MUD 2 Will be better than ever. Of course, there were tons of bugs and glitches with online mode in MUD 1, but we hope to make this game more stable and better. Beta testers Fox and Apache have already been playing the game, (Although they’re the only other two with a copy!) And we hope to kill every bug possible before release. We will be releasing some DLC, more dungeons, and better online. Custom dungeons will be integrated, and so will custom bosses. MUD 2, Everybody!”

Not much else has been said about MUD 2.

October 27, 1977

Spelunkies has been released for the Atari 2600. It recieves an all around rating of 8.5, A Full BGM Track, Co-Op Play and even various items and boosts to collect, but sales have dropped due to the leaked copy. Mythical games is barely making enough money to stay afloat. Jordan Richardson, the CEO Of Mythical Games says:, “On Behalf of this company, we will find the people who leaked the copies of the games and take them to court!” Hopefully this new company can stay on the market long enough to produce more great games.

Mythical Games has found a suspect in the leaking of their popular Atari game “Spelunkies”, Local police have taken him into custody for theft, but people doubt this anonymous suspect is the real thief. Spelunkies has still made a nice profit, but sales are still much lower than anticipated. Fans say “I love Spelunkies and its a shame it has not sold as many copies as it should of”

Pixel Studios accepts. MUD 2 screenshots are already being leaked by staff members to build up hype - copies have been shipping exclusively to big-name buyers such as Mythical Studios, or Walmart. It is 3 weeks from release day, and already has exclusive in-game things.

Pixel Studios says that for an extra fee of $15, (The game will already cost a whopping $30!) Players can get beta access and exclusive-donator items. They will also get a sneak peak of the new ame, Immortal Kombat.

And now for other news, an alligator swallowed three men whole today. Fishing in the swamp titled as Alligator Kreek was probably not a good idea.

Gaming News, out.

//Comments, I love how we’re just the only two posting - nonetheless for people in certain time zones it’s around midnight right now so I’m just lucky to be Canadian. Anyways, I hope the forums kick off soon. If you haven’t checked them out, you can if you’d like. I don’t really care anymore.

//K, maybe if the forums get a little more popular i will.

Jack White has recently talked about making a new way for Atari 2600 players to play; online. He says that his company would be willing to work with a phone company to make an add-on for the 2600, which would use the same phone line technology as computers hooked up to bulletin board systems. It is obvious he wants to capitalize off of the success of MUD and the hype going around MUD 2. We will be watching for phone companies to reply to Jack’s offer.

Gaming News

Spelunkies for the Atari 2600 has come out! It is all about mining for minerals to make money for upgrades so you can do even more mining! But then you can fight during all that! It is really fun! Employees over here at TrueBlue news have been having a really good time playtesting the game for Mythical Games! No bugs were found, and it was an overall cool experience. Our magazine and TrueBlue would like to help Jordan Richardson get money back into his company’s bank by giving them a nice 1M dollar check! We were truly sad when we found out their game was losing sales due to the piracy, as kids like to call it, and we really want to help them get back on their feet from any of the loss that happened from the game’s sales.
