Aquatopia release date announced!
Today Gadgeteer Games has officially announced that Aquatopia will be arriving on the Pixel Cube and PC on April 25th!
“As recently as last year the average computer could not compete with the Pixel Cube console, and neither platform could bring our images of games to life.” said lead developer Oliver Zehn. “But that changed with recent advances by both PC manufacturers and by electronic component manufacturer Remedy Studios. Both the Pixel Cube and PC will be capable of many great things, the first of which I hope will be Aquatopia.”
However, he has said that the differences in the platforms will require a “split approach”.
“The Pixel Cube has a large install base of young players, and uses cheap-to-manufacture CDs. But it’s processor is lacking, even with the R1111 upgrade built into newer Pixel Cubes.” he explained. “Meanwhile, the PC has a large install base of mature players and now often has better overall specs, but use the floppy format that is becoming a joke in the electronics industry due to the surprise success of the Pixel Cube.”
Aquatopia will retail for $40 USD. The Pixel Cube version will have 5-bit (32 color) graphics, while the PC version will have support for 8-bit (256 color) graphics but requires a newer computer. Both versions will have 4 channel mono sound.

Review of No More Him
Far from a mainstream game, No More Him is the kind of amazing game released when a company knows that it will be their last before an inevitable bankruptcy.
Skating on the thinnest of thin ice, just waiting for their first bill to push them from $0.00 into the negative, Dark Entertainment released this “Romance Adventure” game last March so they could go out with a bang.
Or perhaps that should be a whimper. No More Him is the kind of sad, slow game that makes you want to sit back and think about your life. Or maybe even cry for the poor protagonist, who never finds what she’s looking for.
Whether you end up with an abusive boyfriend, or with one who dies in your arms, there is no “good ending” in this game. In fact, it’s like if Dark Entertainment’s previous, first title Terrorville was a game about a girl’s bad luck in love instead of a family dying horribly at the hands of various monsters.
But despite this, the game shows you why she can only make wrong choices. If your ex-boyfriend killed your current lover in an act of revenge, you’d call the cops (or, if you were less emotionally/morally stable, take the life of your ex; We don’t recommend or encourage that course of action, mind) and his sorry butt would be in prison with a guy who will teach him and his said butt a real lesson faster than you can say “Guilty”.
For Emily, this isn’t an option, because in the 1920s her despicable ex is a powerful figure in their hometown and will frame her for the murder. One way or another, once it’s too late to turn back, the only options will end in tears.
While sad, it makes you realize that unless you’re a lone unlucky person who somehow can afford video games on this Earth, who has been forsaken by whatever divine entity runs the universe, you have it a lot better than Emily and have no business complaining about your trivial problems. And before you say “just because I’m not unlucky, I can’t complain?”, remember that you are not a video game character and can influence the world around you to change whatever is wrong.
I know the next time I feel slighted by the clerk at the games store because he doesn’t seem to be interested in the job, I can 1) tell him to stop being an inconsiderate jerk, 2) ask him if something is wrong and he needs to take a break, 3) talk to the manager, or 4+) take one of thousands of other options. Sure, the big problems are complaint worthy, but when you come across an inconvenience, just remember “I am not Emily”.
On that note, if you’re currently suffering from depression or are mourning someone, you might want to pick up Astrid’s Pony Tales II or Buddy Bear’s Toyland instead. Otherwise, Dark Entertainment’s second title is a good purchase for the older demographics, and with their newly refilled bank account supporting a third game the fans must think so too.

Game Announcement
PlayGame Productions has just announced there new game, Big Murder Matic. It seems to be a very controversial topdown game as the player character has the ability to kill any NPC, including the police!! The main character is called Niko Townley, and is a small time thug who wants to do something with his life. Many people are appalled that the company behind Mayor Tycoon is making a violent, blood filled game! The character can be customized, and can even steal cars! The game is set in the made up city of Granchester, which is based on the real life city of Manchester.
Many people don’t want this game to be released, but it is counter balanced by the die hard fans of PGP! This game may get low reviews because of it’s controversy. The game is said to be released in a couple of weeks.

Two new games announced simultaneously by Gadgeteer Games!
In a surprise announcement, Gadgeteer Games revealed it has begun work on not one, but two new games. “We have recently expanded our development team, and we feel we can move more product now.” said lead developer Oliver Zehn.
The first game, Fractalspace, is the first entry to the scrolling space shooter genre since Horse-Drawn Games’ Voidrunner. “We’ve noticed that story is not very important to this kind of game, but also that a poor back story can still make the game feel cheesy. So we came up with something a little different than your average space shooter.” Oliver Zehn explained. “We’ll tell you about that in a few days, but for now let’s move on to the second game.”
Indeed, Horsepower is the first of it’s kind since the pre-crash days. A racing simulator, Horsepower lets you choose between over 100 different models of street-approved car, upgrade the car’s parts, and race on tracks and city streets in a manner reminiscent of the interface used in Gamewagon: Play’s kart racing minigame.
More info will be released soon as Gadgeteer Games works out the details.

Gadgeteer Games has announced their third game today, a scrolling shooter game in the “action” genre.
Fractalspace
Topic: Abstract
Genre: Action
Price: $40 USD
Languages: English, French, Spanish
Platform: Pixel Cube
Demographic: Everyone
In a 2-dimensional world, sentient shapes roam the flat “landscape” living their lives. Among these shapes a heiarchy has risen. Less complex shapes like circles and triangles are at the bottom, with shapes like hexagons farther up, and patterns composed of one or more smaller shapes higher up still.
At the top of this heiarchy is the fractals. Claiming they are superior due to their ability to stretch into infinity, the fractals rule over all they see.
You are a lone pattern of minimal size, three triangles in a vague arrow shape. On behalf of the people, you have made it your mission to end the rule of the fractals at any cost.
Features:
- A unique world of strange and beautiful sights!
- Take out the evil fractal aristocracy and bring
peaceequality to this 2 dimensional world! - No power-ups; High scores are a reflection of your skills alone!
- A high score table with 6-character entries!
- Automatically saves after every level!
- F-Fractal levels! The F-Fractal flies parallel to you on the top end of the screen and fires at random, providing additional challenge!
- Custom colors! Want a red fighter? Or blue? You can change the fighter’s color in the options menu!
