Release

A company that not many have heard of, has recently created a new game. Although they have recently formed, they are actively working on titles for new games. They have titled the game as, Bio-hazard. In bio-hazard, it features 16-bit graphics and 8-bit sounds. The player plays as John Abstergo, an ex-researcher who thought he had found the cure to a plague, but he had only caused a deadlier one. It is already being shipped to various review companies, but for now, get your copy! It is released on PC currently, but they have already expressed plans on releasing it for other titles, such as the GamerCon, and the Gamewagon. It also takes place in 1978, for a change.

Jack Birmingham
Re-volt Games
Red Dust

The latest game on the Gamewagon which is a Post-Apocalyptic/RPG called Red Dust has been released today. It makes use of all the peripherals of the Gamewagon, and it uses the maximum capabilities of the Gamewagon. The graphics are something out of a shooter like Zackson from Vega, using a fake 3D overhead view. It has a lot of immature jokes and very dark and crude humor. We will see what reviewers have to say. One thing we have to say on our own is that Re-volt Games could improve on the sound quality. They shouldn’t have tried to port fun songs onto the Gamewagon as sound quality on it is not very nice. They should have made their own songs for it. The selling price is $30 dollars.

Jack Birmingham of Re-volt Games has announced to the public that his company is already working on a new game for the Gamewagon called Tower Tycoon, a game where you must build the biggest tower full of apartments and offices! It will feature graphics similar to that of Red Dust, but it will instead be a completely over-the-head view. A release date is unknown, but Jack plans to have it done by February next year. We are still waiting on reviews from critics for Red Dust.

Something big. Although the prices are big, and development costs might be a hassle for game developers, it’ll be something EVERYONE will want to get their hands on. Here it is, the Pixel Cube Omega, or PCO.

Description

The PCO is announced to be released sometime next year, says Evan. He hopes this will compete highly with other companies’ consoles, such as the GameWagon or the GamerCon. Although prices might be high, there is technical innovation in these consoles.

With the recent success of the NES, Gamewagon, and GamerCon, Japanese company Vega has plans to release a new console later next year. It is called the Master System. We will see the results then.

4/14/1985

With the announcement of the Master System, American company Re-volt Games NY will be releasing all their future games on it until a better consoles comes out. This may be interesting as currently, the Master System will be the highest-powered console on the market.

Horse-Drawn Games has also announced three future projects. Tale of the Wayfarer, a fantasy RPG to be released in June of 1985. Horse-Drawn Merch

Horse-Drawn Games has contracted with several toy companies to offer a line of official merchandise. Merch is available for Astrid’s Pony Tales, Higurashi, and Voidrunner. There have also been hints at Tale of the Wayfarer toys, to be released at the same time as the game. Horse-Drawn has released new marketing materials to coincide with the merchandise release. The merchandise is currently only available in the USA, but worldwide distribution will begin soon.

Astrid’s Pony Tales

  • Six-inch Pony Hero figures are available for $2.50 USD. Featured characters are Roslyn, Juliet, Astrea, and Yuria. All figures are made of plastic and are posable. Their weapons and some of their armor are removable. Yuria’s witch hat has a tendency to fall off in the package. Only rarely will a Yuria figure be seen on the shelf wearing her hat.
  • There are also six-inch posable figures based on some of the enemies encountered in-game. They are also $2.50 USD, but are labeled “Foul Fiend”. Included fiends are the Skirmisher (simply called ‘fiend’ in-game), Warloc, Skeletal Fiend (called ‘skelly’ in-game), and Armored Fiend (called ‘knight’ in-game).
  • Archfiend figures are available for $4 USD. These are posable as well, but are larger than the Pony Hero and Foul Fiend figures, to put them on par with their in-game size. Algol Sin (called Algol in-game) is the smallest and Asterion (called Asteri in-game) is the largest, but pricing remains consistent amongst them. There is currently no Mephisto toy.
  • Ten-inch Pony Hero plush toys go for $4 USD. Roslyn, Juliet, Astrea, and Yuria appear in their default costumes. There is also a Skirmisher plush available for the same price, labeled Foul Fiend. No other fiends appear in plush form.
  • One-inch Pony Hero minis go for just $0.25 USD. These are small, resin figurines. Unlike the other toys, the default protagonists are not available in the minis line. There are 12 different minis, one for each class/gender combination. They all have different color schemes, but are not named. They can be bought individually from capsule vending machines. Toy stores sell three-packs for $0.60, containing three random Pony Hero Minis.
  • Foul Fiend minis can be acquired from the same capsule machines as Pony Hero minis. They have their own, separate three-packs, however. It is not currently possible to get heroes and fiends in the same package. there are 12 Foul Fiend minis. The default appearances of Skeletal Fiend, Warloc, and Armored Fiend are used. The other 9 are Skirmishers with different outfits and accessories, none of which appeared in-game.
  • Three new posters have been released, for $3 each. They are prints of watercolor paintings by Irene Stevenson, and depict key scenes from the game; the island of fiends rising from the ocean, an army of fiends attacking a village, and the default protagonists facing off against Mephisto.
  • Eight-inch Pony Hero collectible figures sell for $13. These are non-posable resin figures, and are more detailed than the other toys. Roslyn, Juliet, Astrea, and Yuria are featured once more. Their weapons and the metal portions of their armor are die-cast aluminum. The “leather” portions of Roslyn and Juliet’s armor are made of vinyl. Astrea and Yuria’s robes, as well as Yuria’s witch hat, are made of rayon. There are currently no fiend collectible figures.
  • The new TV advert uses a different clip of Twilight than the original, and an all-new animation short depicts the default protagonists fighting off a wave of fiends and skellies, followed by gameplay footage. The new magazine ad is two pages; the first page depicts original artwork of fiends and screen shots of the game with the caption “The world is in peril. Only you can save it.”, while the second page advertises the various toys available.

Higurashi

  • Six-inch Ninja Warrior figures sell for $2.50. They are posable. Haru and Kaito each get their own figure, as does the basic Inago Ninja, each of the twelve Inago lieutenants, and Inago Shinji himself. Sixteen different figures, in all. Haru, Kaito, and the Inago Ninja each come with a sword and a kunai knife. The Inago lieutenants come with a sword and a replica of the magical artifact they wielded in-game. Inago Shinji comes with two swords.
  • Eight-inch Ninja Warrior collectible figures sell for $13. Only Haru, Kaito, and Inago Shinji are available. These are highly detailed resin figures, and are not posable. Haru and Kaito come with a sword each, while Inago Shinji has two smaller swords. The swords are die-cast aluminum. The ninja suits and the wrap on the handle of each sword are all made of rayon.
  • The new TV ad is live-action. An actor portraying Haru battles numerous Inago ninjas while George Takei describes the game’s premise in voice-over, transitioning to gameplay footage before the ad ends. The new magazine ad is a two-pager; the first page is a photo of a model in a dark blue ninja suit in a cemetery and screen shots of the game with the caption “Avenge Them”, while the second page advertises the Ninja Warrior figures.

Voidrunner

  • Battle-Ready Gunship toys sell for $4. These are detailed die-cast models. Both playable ships from the game, the Primrose and the Tiger Lily, are available as part of this toy line. The most common enemy ship, the Strega, is also available. The Primrose is available in red or blue, the Tiger Lily in gold or silver, and the Strega in green or yellow. Each Battle-Ready Gunship comes with a die-cast machine gun, which is black. There is an attachment slot for both a primary and a secondary weapon. The landing gear is retractable, but there are no other moving parts.
  • A prototype of the blue Primrose model was depicted in one of the original Voidrunner ads.
  • Gun Packs are available for $3. The Gun Pack includes the other eight weapons seen in Voidrunner; heavy machine gun, light cannon, heavy cannon, autocannon, rockets, homing missiles, micro missiles, and laser cannon. These are all die-cast aluminum, and are designed to attach to any of the Battle-Ready Gunship toys.
  • The Primrose and Strega are available as model kits for $3. The models are white plastic, and can be painted any color. The model kits include all nine Voidrunner weapons (also white plastic), and stickers. These models are larger than the Battle-Ready Gunships, but have no metal parts.
  • The new TV ad is a live-action space combat sequence that depicts a blue Primrose shooting down several green Stregas, followed by gameplay footage, and the whole thing is set to Fly By Night by Rush. The new magazine ad covers two pages; the first page is a photo depicting the reflection of an explosion in the visor of a fighter pilot helmet, and some screen shots of the game, with the caption “Gotcha!”, while the second page is a toy ad pushing the Battle-Ready Gunships and model kits.

Higurashi and Voidrunner Released in Arcades

Two of the Gamewagon’s launch titles, Higurashi and Voidrunner, have been re-released as arcade cabinets. 3 lives are awarder per quarter. The difficulty of both games has been increased drastically for the arcade version. The arcade version of Voidrunner will also not feature New Game+ or the Tiger Lily ship from the console version.
