I really don’t like having to disconnect from my internet to go onto Game Dev Tycoon, it just feels wrong. If you would fix this issue in a later patch then I (+ the universe) would be pleased.

Hey, in my experience the white screen is caused by 3rd party security software blocking the game, and disabling the internet is the very last thing on my list of suggested fixes for this issue (as i know how annoying that is)
Could you please let us know which antivirus and/or other security you run as this will help us solve this problem.
Have you tried adding Game Dev Tycoon to all your securities exception lists?

I use Virgin Media Security as my antivirus, I used to have Norton 360 but it ran out. And since Virgin Media Security isn’t starting right now, I can’t try and put Game Dev Tycoon on a list or something to programs which are clear.
On a personal note, I’d switch from VMS to using avast!, have never had any issues with it. That said, I have never tried Virgin Media Security, so I’ve no idea what engine it runs off.

I dunno what “engine” that Virgin Media Security runs on, but I think it might be ran on hatred, greed, poor customer service and low internet speeds.
If VMS isn’t starting thats a very bad sign… and points to many possible reasons why both it and Game Dev Tycoon aren’t starting.
I would suggest uninstalling VMS and running windows defender right away, you simply type windows defender into your start menu, it will automatically update itself, it does that every 2 weeks, and let it run a full system scan, this may take all day, thats normal on many systems.
Also install a well known free antivirus such as, like danielwhit said, Avast or AVG free. These small lightweight AV packages tend to interfere with the user much less that the large packages which are aimed more at keeping children safe.
