Dont start on MAC OS X 10.6.9

Can not start on mac os x 10.6.9

You need Mac OS X 10.7 or higher. They cannot provide compatibility to those that have Snow Leopard. Sorry. You need Lion or Mountain Lion.

just out of curiosity, what’s the big deal with 10.6 or 10.7?
(I’m no Mac user and thought MacOS X meant the same thing, the different 10.x versions just being something like bugfixes/servicepacks)

10.6 is Snow Leopard, which is an old version of OS X. Apple expects users to upgrade each year, as each upgrade for 20.00 dollars (Compared to Windows, which is 200.00 dollars… Of course, this will change with Windows Blue/8.1, as Microsoft will take the same approach, and do a yearly upgrade cycle, which is hopefully cheaper upgrades.).

Service Packs don’t exist on Mac. They just have bug fixes.

10.7 is Lion, which bought the Mac App Store and other goodies. 10.8, or Mountain Lion just bought some iOS features to Mac, such as Notification Center, new app looks, and just that kind of thing.

No, 10.x releases are new full versions, the difference between 10.6 and 10.7 is like the difference between XP and Vista. No, wait, that’s not quite accurate… 10.7, while it has its flaws, does not suck like Vista did.

The Mac equivalent to bugfixes and service packs are the 10.x.y releases, for instance 10.6.8 is the latest bugfix release for 10.6. Whereas 10.7.5 is the latest update for 10.7. I’m glad you asked though, a lot of people on the internet just assume and then insult Apple for “charging for service packs.”

Also, aren’t service packs just collections of older bug fixes? Because in that cause the Mac equivalent would be the combo updates that include all of the previous versions in one patch.

Your post was better than mine… I raged for a little bit, but it’s all right. Besides, I don’t have a Mac (I would love one though!).

thx for the info.

yep, combo updates do sound like service packs.
