I have this problem where whenever I start developing a new game, my three developers produce 3-4 D/T bubbles, but stops. It just say “starting…” but the developers are stuck, and time continues to flow. If I restart the savegame, I can start researching or take on a contract job, but not develop a game.
The game did crash during development of a game just before this problem happened. I put my computer to sleep, and the game was crashed when I opened the computer.
I’ve the full version of Game Dev Tycoon from the Windows Store and got the same problem. My game had crashed and I had reopened it.
Now my project is stuck on the “Starting…” phase and none of the staff are working. Time is still moving according to the in-game calendar, and I get updates about new console launches, etc… I am unable to do new research or contracts, though I am able to train or fire staff.
I’ve tried closing and re-opening the game several times, to no avail.
All everyone does is drink coffee and write notes! Argh!
I found a fix for it, for my game at least. I noticed one of my employees’ computer was glitching and all you could see was the screen. So I fired him and go a new one. That didn’t seem to work so I trained everyone at the same time in hopes of them all ceasing to produce bubbles. Sure enough, once everyone was done with the training they produced bubbles and the game continued. I’m not really sure if I had to fire that employee or not though lol. Good luck!
I managed to fix this in my own game as well. I trained all my employees and watched their bars. One of my employees had stopped doing any work. Firing her got game development moving again.
