Complaining about piracy when you stole the entire game concept and design?

Again I acknowledge there may be younger people here and I have a little respect for that.

on a related note has anybody contacted Kairosoft on this?

He asked if I was a programmer. I answered. I would hardly call restricting something to 3 pc’s DRM. Inspiration is not the same as copying a game.

I don’t know if they’re still active and I doubt many people speaking japanese here would bother.

I have contacted Kairosoft regarding this infringement of copyright and abuse of another entity’s popularity to drive Game Dev Tycoon. I will trust their judgement in this situation.

WHAT THE HACK! The platforms a different, the graphics, even the gameplay! Why not complain that Far Cry steals from Call of Duty because you do the same in both games(walking & shooting). Every car race game is the same and you complain about this game?

I’m very glad to see how intelligent this discussion has become.

So you contacted an indie dev to let them know they inspired someone to create a game? I’m sure they’ll be so angry.

nope GDS was released on PC in 1997

the execution is different. Unlike GDS to Game dev sim

They don’t sell Far Cry as “Call of Far” or Call of Duty as “Far Duty” or whatever.

Oooh “inspired”, buzzwords are fun!

So hold on the name is what you’re arguing against here? Why are you on the forum if you’re so angry. The games good. It’s innovative, fun and overall and improvement on GDS.

I completely don’t understand why there has to be no more gamedev games on PC (which for sure will have much similarities to each other because of the same genre) if some cool phones have a gamedev game working on them
It’s better to not whining about similarities between GDS and GDT but enjoy both of’em ^^

so what you’re saying is that if I make a HD mod for doom and call it “doomed” I can easily sell it for $30?

There’s the thing. You’re basing your argument off screenshots.

Kairosoft seems to have no interest in continuing GDS. They haven’t released a new game in the series in years – the iPhone and Android GameDevStory is a port of GDS2 which was released on PC in 1997. They also haven’t released it on Windows Phone or the Windows Store, nor have they released an English version for traditional operating systems.

Greenheart saw a hole in the market and took it, and were successful with it. You can’t fault them for that.

Just buy him a copy of the game and he can try it. God.

There was a huge discussion on reddit about this:

In short, we did not rip-off GDS. We were inspired by it and said that all along but our game is our own creation. Anyway, if you try it out you might like it. Many other GDS players have enjoyed our take on the genre a great deal.

Why would I give my money to the likes of him?

Do you want to argue with him on an equal basis or not? If you already know you don’t have the same basis to argue off, you might as well give up. Otherwise, make the field equal.
