Can't open game; Windows 7

So I bought the game last night, downloaded it from the email, installed it and was able to play right away. I played for a few hours, then went to bed. I try to play the game again tonight and I can’t even get to a load screen. I go to a gray screen, nothing happens, then the game crashes.

I’ve uninstalled and re-installed several times. Several times, I’ve gotten the error message “CreateProcess failed; Code 740. The requested operation requires elevation” when trying to launch the game.

I’m concerned that perhaps I have an old file or the wrong version or something, because the ‘readme’ file says “Game Dev Tycoon DEMO v0.9” but I downloaded straight from the email.

Can someone help me?

Thanks for reporting this. I just saw that the readme is entirely wrong. Sorry for the trouble.

The install file you should get, should say GameDevTycoon-138.exe - this is currently the latest version.

We will look into this.

@gnor, do you have any idea what this error could mean?

That is actually the name of the file. I’m really not sure why it would have worked last night and then not today. I had a few error messages from my firewall, but then I thought that I had solved them. And even so I’m not sure why a re-install wouldn’t have brought those up again.

For what it’s worth, I really enjoyed the game when I was able to play it.

@kfreed21 do you have any anti-virus tool installed? Could you please try disable it for a while?

Have you tired to run it as administrator?

it shouldn’t need administrative rights.

I know. I just wanted to point out that this might help as a workaround.

This appears to be true for ALL versions. Whilst the game package itself includes an updated readme, the installer places an older version in the install directory.

OK, I disabled AVG and my firewall and tried to install it again. Getting the “CreateProcess…” error again. Not sure what else I can do.

I downloaded the update and now I get a white screen and immediate crash, which I see is a known issue elsewhere.
