I know this isn’t a unique problem but I have the issue of starting the game, getting a temporary white screen and then going black. Can hear the game in the background and see the cursor changing to a hand to click on things but cannot see the game.
I have read other similar topics and tried to act on them, and had some advice on steam, but so far the only thing that seems to have worked is to uninstall the graphics cards which is NOT a suitable solution.
I have Windows 8.1 64 bit, with a Intel Core i5-4200M CPU @ 2.50Ghz Turbo Boost 3.10Ghz, and 4GB of RAM.
I also have approx. 430GB of spare hard drive space.
Additionally I have a basic graphics card Intel HD 4600 and a dedicated graphics card AMD Radeon HD 8570M with 1GB dedicated.
I think the game is launched with the wrong graphics card… ? Since it worked uninstalling it. See tutorials online on how to force one graphics card to be used on a game If it doesn’t work, come back to me! (Or @Charlie or @PatrickKlug)
It is probably an unsupported graphics card, and yes he can uninstall. (The drivers :p) There is usually a graphics card and integrated. Maybe he needs to force the integrated to be used? Might be so.
HI, the recent AMD drivers have caused a flurry of black screens. AMD will most likely rectify this themselves. In the meantime i would suggest using the catalyst control center to change to performance instead of quality and be sure to not have your laptop plugged in. Unfortunately AMD also removed the ability to simply switch from one card to another in a simple manner and instead you get the ‘performance’ or ‘quality’ options. However these settings are overridden when the laptop is plugged in and then ‘quality’ is chosen.
Quality being the AMD and Performance being the intel.
Another option is to use older AMD drivers, before they caused the black screen issue.
You can try to run it on integrated, and see if it runs good. The 4600 should more then defiantly run it fine. (Until the later stages, but even then my computer starts to slow down, and I have a decent rig)
Well, recently many users have this problem, you can make a Windows 8 boot disk to reboot your computer and then reboot your computer. You also can login safe mode
