After today’s update, my screen does not stay black and show an error sign anymore!
Unfortunately, the screen is white, BUT I can hear the game sound and can “play” the game. They way I know this is because I can hear me click on interfaces inside the game.
Heya,
Many thanks for your patience!
In our experience the ‘white and black screen with sound’ issue can occur for the same reason. A security program or windows account security measure is blocking the game from running past a certain point. Therefore the game gets stuck on the loading transition screens which are both white and black.
Please add an exception to your Anti Virus for your Game Dev Tycoon folder. If you are unsure on how to do this then please let us know which AV you are using and we will find you a guide.
Steam edition users
Please be aware that after adding the exception you need to validate the game files to restore any that the AV deleted.
Here is a Video guide on How to Verify the Steam Cache ;
All other edition users
Please re-install the game after you have added the exception.
Here are some other ‘known solutions’ for having a White or Black screen with sound.
After you try each diagnostic measure at your own risk please run the game.
Run the game with Windows Vista/Xp compatibility.
To change the compatibility mode correctly please apply the change to the ‘GameDevTycoon.exe’ in the steam folder.
** How to enable compatibility mode**
Navigate to;
(Steam users)-
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Game Dev Tycoon.
(Standard users)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Game Dev Tycoon
-Right click on ‘GameDevTycoon.exe’
Choose Properties > Compatibility Tab
Choose ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and choose windows vista or XP where applicable.
Disable your AV temporarily.
(at your own risk - with the internet disabled).
Run Game Dev Tycoon from an internal hard drive AND installed on the C drive. Some users have experienced problems when using flash drives that are solved once they installed the game on an internal hard drive.
Make sure that your C Drive is not full.
Update your Graphic drivers to the latest stable build (not beta drivers)
If you are using a laptop switch to the integrated card.
Disable the Steam Cloud Service.
A black screen can also be caused by an unsupported resolution. Please check that you are only using one monitor at a standard resolution.
As a final diagnostic measure, test the game on a windows user account that has full privileges.
