There are two of you developing this, right? So you should be able to add three or four new features each day. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is in my wish list

  • More Random Events that occurred during the work environment, Politics, Lawsuits, and other events.
  • More Research items such as Downloadable Contant (DLC), Virtual Reality Items (oculis Rift wasn’t the first), Crafting system, player vs player, DRM, etc.
  • Cross-Platform Releases
  • Patches to fix bugs on games or update the contant.
  • Allow us to choose more then 1 theme, make a mixture of a setting (Horror + Fantasy = Dark Fantasy)
  • If one of our games get popular, someone will ask us permission to make a movie off it (Resident Evil, Doom, Alone in the Dark, Final Fantasy: Advent Children and Spirit Within, Silent Hill)
  • Allow us to rename our engines and games.
  • Allow us to sell or remove old engines.

I agree with everything on your wishlist. I would love to see these features added to Game Dev Tycoon!

Make it so like when you have a HUGE amount of money it changes the M into T or QT and so on. As I stand atm I have 8,000,000,000.3M ish cash and that’s a huge number to keep track of. Don’t remember where I saw it but a studie said that the human brain can only make sense of numbers with 6ish numbers. If you can drop the money number from having 9 numbers/0’s to like 3 or 4.

In-game notifications about available updates if there’s any. Eventually an option to auto-update.

I would really like this options:

  • Multi-Platform support
  • More Random events like thiefs that break in and steal or sabotage something-Computer virruses that destroy your current work on a game, Piracy but in a lower form, you can hire a specalist to encrypt your games with license codes or something.
  • Longer game’s  and android consoles
  • Dlc’s or updates/patches for already out games so you can bring them back alive with a small update for example a multiplayer update to the game engine
  • And AI competitors

I LOVE THIS GAME!
keep develping =)

Good work

Indeed auto update or notification’s would be nice

I’ve only just started playing, so I don’t have any ideas to bounce off you, but I just wanted to say how great the game is and that I really love how in touch the developers are with their audience. Cheers Patrick and Daniel!

Thanks for making this great game, i was pinned the first time when i played this, and i want more! Keep up the good work!

about multiplayer mode: [Request] Could i get permission to make a multiplayer mod?

I love the game, and I was thinking that an idea for a new endgame would be a new office where, instead of managing individual staff, you create teams that can be allocated to work on different areas. E.g. you could have a group of technical specialists who could all work on graphics, I imagine this would be a big job, but I think it sounds pretty cool.
You would train them and send them on vacation as a team, as well.

A smaller change would be to be able to choose when you move onto the next development stage, rather than there being a fixed time on each.
Maybe the ability to auction the rights to a game or series, as well as engines, maybe consoles, etc.
Also how about being able to develop (and sell) technology like graphics cards, etc. which would be able to support more advanced graphics on your games.
It also seems odd that there is no ‘crime’ topic (GTA?), and it would be interesting to have to fend off claims about violent video games when you make a ‘mature’ one. Which also makes me think, if you did implement something like my first suggestion, how about having a ‘public relations department’ who could handle marketing, press, etc?
Finally +1 to practically every other suggestion here

@PatrickKlug Thank you for creating a sticky topic about this. The threads were getting a bit heated and overwhelming.

Good thing: people are passionate about your game.
Bad thing: don’t let them get under your skin, the internet breeds hostility.

You guys are doing a bangup job, looking forward to seeing where GDT goes and what’s in store next.

The two wishlists I have seen in this thread pretty much sum up anything I would like to see added.

I have another suggestion to add to this:
Company gifting/retirement.

What I mean by that is, it would be nifty if after the 30 year run is up (or 35 now that I know you can set it to that), the CEO could retire and one of the hired employees could take over and keep the game going. With the ability to research your own consoles and things of that nature, I would love to see that as an option. The game has so much play value and potential for replay that it’s really mind boggling.

@PatrickKlug You and your team absolutely rock. I can’t wait to see what else you guys add and what other IPs you roll out with.

Love the game

I first downloaded it BUT then I bought it

i would love to see like a multiplayer option were you can

  • help a friend in need
  • buy a company of your friend when he failed
  • make a tycoon with a friend were you are both co-owners but you invest X amount of money from your own company

There are a lot of good suggestions floating around.

The one thing that would save me the most time and hassle right now would be improvements to the Game History feature. Only being able to view one title at a time makes it hard to compare results, perceive trends, and such…and once you’re 20 years or so into the game, there’s sooooo much scrolling and short-term-memory-testing involved in reminding yourself what your company has done, what games might be the best candidates for sequels, et cetera.

Being able to view Game History in chart and/or table and/or graph format would be a tremendous boon, to this player at least.

The same goes for the employees. The Staff list doesn’t indicate who’s a tech or design specialist also it doesn’t show what their program specialty is if they have one.

So far your game has been pretty entertaining. Though I have several problems with the game and I have suggestions for more ideas.

-Multi-Platform support should be implemented.

-Harder hitting political and social events that can stick your company with a difficult decision.

-Ability to turn off the constant suggestions of moving to a new office.

-Research topics need to be a bit more clear as well as ways to get certain tech.

-Game length should be adjustable so the years don’t just blaze by in the matter of an hour.

-Events need to be less predictable with platforms releases not always having to line up with real life events. Maybe make it possible for consoles that normally failed to succeed in real life to actually dominate. It would reflect the market a bit better and you wouldn’t know what would fail ahead of time. It would add another level of challenge into the game.

-Pop up messages should be less intrusive. As a side suggestion maybe make it a tab to the side.

-Money and tech hardly reflects the time. I have ended up with the 360 released and my researched tech as lacking in areas that would have been achieved with basic understanding by then. Also having an 8000 dollar monthly upkeep cost in the 80s seems silly, but that is minor.

-Topics are researched at an annoyingly high cost for how slow you have to trudge through each and every topic down the list. I wished to release an early horror game and unless I wasted my research points going through topics I found useless or uninteresting I was unable to.

-Research points seem way too difficult to gather to get much of the basic tech done at a reasonable time.

-More interesting events and technology to research.

-Maybe it would be possible to put all the gaming news into a newspaper or magazine that appears on or near your desk with a new! text above it every time an announcement is made and it is selectable if you wish to actually read up on the industry. It would be less intrusive but also you could add a feature of a cool in game magazine you can flip through and actually read or see related imagery/stories to the times.

-More images may make the game more interesting to look at.

-Possible way to upload and design your own box art into the game which would appear instead of the platform your game was released on in gaming history. Also would appear in booths and on posters in your office.

-Offices could be more customizable to make things more interesting and with a pause function which would disable development/ research/ etc. You could spend some time enjoying your office and editing it a bit.

These are only a few suggestions and add-on’s to your game. Your game is only 8 dollars so i do not expect too much content but I hope it can further improve as time goes on. If you would add a future expansion to this game to further improve on it I would pay for it in a heartbeat. For now it is reasonably fun and I hope you guys can adjust it a bit.

Take Care.

that is a lot to read. especially with repetitive topics all over the place.

-I would like a possibility for market-analysis. Something like “Which people use which plattform”. To find out the Age is probably important. Also “which Genre is popular on one plattform” To balance it right you probably have to pay research-points and money, and you can only do it for one plattform at a time.

-Sometimes I make bad games and I don’t know why it was bad. I don’t want to get the knowledge from outside the Game. Maybe a Research where you get information about specific genres would be nice. Something that says e.g. “Story and Quests are the most important thing for RPGs” or stuff like that.

-This is probably a big thing: I forgot to make a Patch, because I was developing a game. In Real-Life you have a schedule or something, that one person knows that he has to do something else after that. That would be an awesome thing to add.
When thats not possible, add maybe a better “pause”-option where you go in it and tell everyone what to do before the game continues. I find it a bit stressful that the game goes on so fast and sometimes the workers are not doing anything.

yea, but add a button then somewhere, where you can decide to move to a new office.
