I bought the windows store version back in May/June, but I don’t have a “Get Steam Key” button in it, and no update is available. How do I get my Steam Key?
The update will come, but it is out of GHG’s hands. Microsoft controls the distribution of Windows Store apps, and the timing of any updates.
Fun Fact: @PatrickKlug and @DanielKlug had to purchase copies of GDT from the Windows Store themselves, in order to get a non-dev version. MS won’t give them any keycodes for free copies.

I’m in the same boat as you, waiting for Microsoft to push the new update to the store. Just gotta be patient. 
Even less reasons to use windows 
Hell my windows store is broken… as with all the other things in windows 8.1 ie mail, news, “PC Settings”. Ive managed to resolve the Store and PC Settings so they actually work. However Store linked apps will not install or run. I havent tried buying anything since I discovered this problem (that arouse a couple of months ago apparently with a windows update).
Needless to say this means my purchased copy of GDT wouldnt run, uninstalled it hoping to fix it and now wont install. Not the developers fault I land this one straight at Microsoft, wondering if there was a way to get a key when I cant get into the game via the store?
Unfortunately we have no access to the Windows Store.
I would suggest using a different Windows 8 computer and signing into the store with the credentials you used to purchase your apps with. Then you can install the game and claim your Steam key.
