Windows RT free copy

Hi.

I’ve bought the game on Mac for myself and I’m wondering can I get it for windows RT for free as I’ve already bought it once? and this is sort of the only decent game on the the Windows Store because I can’t get Steam on the Surface RT.

Thank you

You can order it by emailing orders@fastspring.com with the email you bought the game with. :smiley:

It is not possible to get a free copy for Windows RT. The only version of our game which runs on Windows RT is the one from the Windows Store. Microsoft does not allow us to give away free copies so your only option is to buy it from the Store.
Even we have to buy our own game on the Windows Store.

Oh. Noooooo. :frowning:
Why doesn’t it just make the .exe version works?

Because Windows RT runs on ARM processors, instead of intel. No normal Windows app runs on that.

No wonder. :slight_smile:

@patrick then why does the windows rt pro run minecraft pc

Wiki lists the supported platforms for minecraft as;

Windows, Mac, and Linux
Android
iOS
Xbox 360 (Xbox Live)
Xbox 360 (Retail Disc)
Raspberry Pi
PlayStation 4

From what i did find it seems that the dev called Notch of minecraft has no wish to support the RT device, along with Valves co-founder;

The only references i can find to an ARM device running minecraft are threads that involve jailbreaking and editing such as;

Is that what you were referring to? Or are my googling skills lacking today.

I think maybe you mean Surface Pro runs Minecraft? Because the Surface Pro runs normal Windows 8, not Windows RT.

@Progamingkilz: There is no such thing as ‘the windows rt pro’. There is the Microsoft Surface Pro, which runs regular Windows 8, along with any software that can work on normal Windows. Or there is the Microsoft Surface (not Pro) which runs Windows RT, a stripped down form of Windows 8 designed for ARM devices.

To date, the only ARM devices supported by Minecraft are iOS, Android, and Rasberry Pi. The Xbox 360 edition is technically PowerPC, and the Xbox One and PS4 will likely use a modified form of the X86 PC edition.

Surface Pro will run Game Dev Tycoon - no problem :slight_smile:

Seems your googling skills are as good as ever :stuck_out_tongue: Ha.

I have Windows 8 and I enjoy it. Haven’t had much of a problem with it besides running Saints Row: The Third on DX 10 & 11 (But then again, Windows 8 wasn’t a supported OS). Personally, I don’t mind it. I think people are just being over critical. I remember reading an article on windows 8 and one of the bullet points was “You have to remember where everything is”

Um, you had to do the same thing before? I found it kinda funny how the publisher of that article complained about having to remember where the start menu is. But that’s my two cents and completely off topic :stuck_out_tongue:
