Yeah, he doesn’t work in Microsoft for years.
Huh, well that escalated quickly.
BTW. Whats the reason that Microsoft skipped Windows 9?
Because Windows 95 and 98 was called 9x. They didn’t want to mess the names up.
Huh. Well that escalated quickly.
The programs would read the operating system as Windows 95 and 98 and cause compatibility issues.
Not actually. Many people mistake the marketing version number with the kernel version number. Had they used 9, it would either read “Windows NT 6.4” or “Windows NT 9.0” which indicate clearly that it uses the NT kernel.
Very true. In fact Windows 9 or 10 doesnt match the NT kernel with 95 and 98. Cuz 95 and 98 are made from MS-DOS not NT
FUN Fact:
Windows Vista is NT 6.0
7 is NT 6.1
and 8/8.1 is NT 6.2 (8.0) and NT 6.3 (8.1)
10 is NT 6.4 last year but now its NT 10.0
More “fun” facts:
Windows 1.0 - 1.0
Windows 2.0 - 2.0
Windows 3.0 - 3.0
Windows 3.1 - 3.1
Windows 95 - 4.0
Windows NT 3.0 - NT 3.0
Windows 98 - 4.1
Windows NT 4.0 - NT 4.0
Windows 2000 - NT 5.0
Windows ME - 4.2
Windows XP - NT 5.1
Correct me if I’m wrong.
You got that right tho. Good Job!
boom
you got it

I read somewhere that the free upgrade to Windows 10 will expire after one year and that the user will then have to pay for the upgrade. Is this so? Alasdair
No, that’s completely wrong. Once you have installed Windows 10 and made a note of your product key, it’s yours forever. Well, you can use it until Microsoft stops supporting it, which is usually 10 years.
Windows 10 will be free forever, as long as you UPGRADE within the year given to you to reserve it.
Also, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of Operating Systems said himself; ‘We announced that a free upgrade for Windows 10 will be made available to customers running Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1 who upgrade in the first year after launch. This is more than a one-time upgrade: once a Windows device is upgraded to Windows 10, we will continue to keep it current for the supported lifetime of the device – at no cost.’
To clear up about the lifetime of the OS.
