I bought the full version on my desktop, when the full RT version arrives, do I have to rebuy it on the Surface? Or will it have the same app id, that I can basically reinstall on the RT devices without having to rebuy the game. I saw some other game developer put a “Lite” version basically just for the RT devices.
The plan is to release an update to the full game with a ARM-compatible (RT) version included so no new purchase would be necessary. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee this until we actually get the ARM version to run properly. Even though we spent a lot of time investigating the performance issues we haven’t had a breakthrough yet so the ARM version is still uncertain.
Thank you for the explanation, well, I really really look forward to play GDT on my Surface. I rely on my Surface a lot while I’m out of office, it is kinda strange that some graphic intense titles like ADERA managed to run quite well on the Surface RT. I’ll be waiting for the ARM version then, whenever it is ready. Best of luck.
I know what you mean. What I found is that you can’t compare performance of 3D titles like ADERA with a HTML 2D game like ours. They just use a different engine and have different performance bottle necks. I know it’s frustrating.
Have you considered availing yourself to Microsoft’s and/or NVIDIA’s developer help? What is the deal with games being featured in TegraZone?
At least you can look forward to not having to test Windows RT performance on a multitude of devices since all of them use the same processor - the Tegra 3. Microsoft made sure to lock down the performance characteristics of all current-gen Windows RT devices.
yes, we had folks from Microsoft trying to help us out with the performance issues. Sadly, even though we made some progress we still can’t get a build with good-enough performance.
so, the RT version is finally live and yes we published it with the same app id so current players get the update for free
