So I read that your next game won’t be “Game Dev Tycoon 2”, and that’s perfectly fine, however what I want to know is are you guys planning to continue the “Management” genre of game that Kairosoft does. If you guys do plan to expand away from the Management genre, what genre would you guys be targeting?
Kairosoft has recently gone into the In-app purchase route with one of its games. It is currently the only Kairosoft game I don’t own/have on my iphone/ipad. From a fan’s standpoint it was the worst thing they could do to me, however I also realize iPhone and Android apps are HIGHLY pirated. I think you said in your blog you disliked in-game purchases, so hopefully no problems there. I rather see a donation button before I see an in-app purchase.
P.S: I did pirate this game like I do every other Kairosoft game, However I also ended up buying it like every other Kairosoft game that I owned. I didn’t download your crack version, however the idea was amazing. How did you guys come up with it.
Greenheart Games’ motto is “Less Social. Less 'ville. More Games” which refers to this practice, as well as to the requirements to ‘invite your friends to unlock new features’ found in many iPhone type games.
Whilst GHG is planning to offer some form of content update to GDT once the worst of the bugs are squashed, they have stated that their next project will not be GDT 2. Most likely they will make another simulation game (not necessarily a tycoon game, though), before returning to the GDT series for their 3rd or 4th game.
I compare Ghg’s GDT very much to Kariosoft’s “Game dev story” which is a great game. And there is definitely similarities, but overall it think GDT executes them better for the most, and it is in no way a bad thing being compared to Kairosoft their games are not “social”, not “ville” and they definitely make many games, and for the most part good games.
I’m looking forward to see what other games that GHG’s will make, i just hope they innovate a bit more than Kairosoft, they have a tendency to use the same template a bit too much. But i’m very confident in GHG right now, they did a great job with their first simulation game, looking forward to more
Compare? Can we say, rip off? This game pretty much takes everything from Game Dev Story and just builds on it. I haven’t found anything yet where GreenHeartGames acknowledges this (which, if there’s a reference, I would like to see it). It’s amazing how well some people can take successful ideas from other countries, not acknowledge them, pass them off as their own idea, and make money off of them…
It’s amazing how well some people can get away with unfounded complaints like this. GHG have repeatedly stated that they drew inspiration from GDS as well as other sources, and created a game which solved the problems that they saw. They also added some extra features not found in GDS, and are continually supporting their game on multiple platforms (unlike Kairosoft).
Try using the forum search with the word ‘inspiration’ and see what comes up.
PS: Thank you for replying to a topic that was last discussed in MAY.
Yes, the game idea was inspired by Game Dev Story, you can also see this on our About page http://www.greenheartgames.com/about/
The game itself however was created from scratch. We developed the algorithms, concepts and code as well as the artwork and everything else ourselves and while the game might similar at first glance, once you play it a bit longer you will see that it plays quite different.
Making a game simular to another game happens all the time, in fact i think anyone will have a very hard time to come up with a game thats 100% original ( and a good game as well )
As long as most of the content is original i don’t see the problem.
There are plenty of space program games
KSP just is different and perhaps more accesable for most people and more fun.
But to say its a complete new and original idea, not at all.
So by your statement… All cars are copies of the first ever car built? They all have same basic parts… All computers are the same? they all have the same basic components…
If no one made something, how can other improve on it? It all has to start somewhere… so you coming out and say its a rip off is just ignorant…
