Will Game Dev Tycoon Ever Be Updated

I was Wondering if game dev tycoon will ever be work on again, or is this the end?

Maybe periodically if a seriously bad bug is found, but I doubt it. Just think about it like one of the games made in GDT, without an “unnoticed-string-of-bugs” event there’s no reason to patch one of your finished games. On the other hand though, there is a game Greenheart Games claims to be working on now currently known as “Game #2” so this definitely won’t be the last we hear of Greenheart Games.

damn that was fast but what i meant was will they be adding on to game dev tycoon,

Greenheart Games has mentioned “Game Dev Tycoon 2” on occasion, but that would be a totally separate game. Also, like @DragonWarrior45 said, I seriously doubt they have plans to add onto the current GDT anytime soon, unless there is a serious bug.

Possibly Hardware Dev Tycoon. There is no point of GDT Remastered Edition unless the game is 10 years old.

As always, you’re on point, @chizbejoe !

To be completely transparent, @Bobby_Hill, our many focus is to keep working on Game #2, which is not a sequel to Game Dev Tycoon, but it’s still within the same genre. I can’t tell you much else right now, though.

It’s not that we’re tired of Game Dev Tycoon - far from it! - but we do want to try different things and expand on what we learned from both making and then releasing/supporting Game Dev Tycoon!

If afterwards we do come back to Game Dev Tycoon, we’d probably be more inclined to make a full new game rather than a DLC or a couple of simple changes. As for support, we are, much like @DragonWarrior45 said, still supporting the game, especially if we find something game-breaking.

Hopefully this cleared things up for you.

I’ve always thought that it would be cool to make a GDT in 3D mod using three.js (I even had started work on a prototype).

I scraped the project once I realized that I need to really advance my JS/jQuery knowledge before I do anything as heavy as that. One day, I might return to it.

@chizbejoe to much work  You’ll be better off creating it in unity!

But how can people add a z-axis to a 2d game? The textures would get messed up.

I would be using my own models and textures.

Sorry for double post

That’s how it seems to work around here. :stuck_out_tongue:
