Why did you guys make it only 10.7+? I saw the other thread where you said the “underlying technology” doesn’t work with 10.6.8 but why even make it like that in the first place? 10.6.8 is still a really prevalent OS for mac users.
I dunno what my point is in posting this since you already said you can’t make it for Snow Leopard but I guess it just didn’t make any sense to me and wanted to know if you had a reason for starting out like that. I have bootcamp AND own another laptop that has Windows 8 but I still love casual gaming in bed with my little 13 inch macbook pro and that’s all I really wanted the game for :(. So no sale for me at least for now =/.
it’s the requirement of node-webkit, which powers Game Dev Tycoon.
I see. Well that is too bad. I feel a bit better though knowing you had a valid reason.
According to this: https://github.com/rogerwang/node-webkit/issues/97 the issue is just that you need to build node-webkit on a 10.6 machine. Indeed i got the game working really easily on OSX 10.6.8 by using the 10.6 node-webkit binary found here: https://github.com/toxygen/10.6-node-webkit and just copying the Game Dev Tycoon.app/Contents/Resources folder into it. I haven’t tested it extensively, but it seems to launch and run just fine.

…ok so maybe keyboard input doesn’t actually work for me, but who really needs that anyway, just a minor bug. 2 steps forward…
Yes, essentially you hit the nail on the head there
“the issue is just that you need to build node-webkit on a 10.6 machine.”
Essentially, the way macs are developed means we would need to rebuild Game Dev Tycoon on a certain build, so essentially its making the game for another platform.
I’m interested to see how you do on the 10.6 although please take care not to publicly break the rules as set out in the EULA.
