Why do RPG and Action games always get low scores?

When I lived in the garage, I created small 6 RPG and Action games. The scores were between 8 to 9.75…Then I moved to the new office…I created medium RPG and Action games…And the scores were between 3.25 to 6.5. I don’t understand why I got low scores…Maybe I shouldn’t created medium games too early because the staffs are still new? Or I dunno…I need your feedbacks…I would greatly appreciate if you could help me…Thank you!

RPG and Action games have vastly different requirements. Are you using similar sliders on each? When you’re in the garage, the game is many ways more generous than it is later on.

I usually get pretty good scores on RPG and action.
I think your problem may be connected to the platform you’re developing for.
Additionally you may want to go over your slider settings, depending on the topic/genre combination.

No, I’m not using similar sliders on each…

I generated my games report, mostly are good and great Young-RPG and Mature-Action on Playstation and Xbox…I still got low scores…

But is said additionally that staffs are still new…I don’t know what that means…

New staff are not as effective as well settled staff.
Be sure to do the Welcome Training to every new staff member, and maybe do some contract work until they almost setteled in (when the vertical bar next to the staff is filled up).

Also, it takes a few games for new staff to reach full potential

If you are getting 3-6 scores with great combinations, then there is something wrong with your way of making these games.

Basis for the score is the amount of points generated during the development. If you are not getting a “New Record” for either design or tech you can be pretty sure the game will be medicore at best.

Then, Action and RPG are two vastly different genres, that doen’t just mean using different sliders but also a different team. Some areas are more tech-heavy others are more design-heavy. To maximize the amount of points generated you have to assign people with good design- and tech-skills to the right areas. For example assigning someone with a high design but low tech-skill to AI will generate only a very small amount of points, as AI is a tech-heavy area.

Or maybe your sliders-setting is still a bit off. Hard to tell.

perhaps his staff is not balanced
which result on wrong D:T percentage

You shouldn’t make medium games until you have 100k because it… uh… i don’t actually know why it does that, but yeah.

The rating do not depend on your fan base.
Rating depends only on the sliders. Action games need more engine, medium gameplay and no story (surprising, eh? ).
RPG are quite the opposite of this, no engine, more story.
Slider adjustment and content (Better AI, Orchestral Soundtrack, etc.) is the key for good ratings.
When you have gone bancrupt take your knowledge to the next game. (Hints)
With this knowledge it will be an easy walkthrough to good ratings and income.

25k fans are needed to publish medium games yourself without publisher, 100k for large ones.

Addition: You don’t need to reach a new record in design and technology to get a nearly or completely 10 rated game. Even with a new record and 2k+ points in design and technology you can get a game with a rating of 6 or way lower.

Wrong. You need 100k for medium, 500k for large, and 1M for AAA.

Addition : Wait wait wait wait wait! You need to see if you have RPG as your main genre or not. The main genre is the one you put in first. So if RPG is your main genre…

and if Action is your main genre…

Hm could swear it was 25k … short: Follow ingame footage. ^^

He has not reasearched Multigenre, I would guess. He talk about theses genres seperated, so he made RPG for youngsters and action for matures.
Multigenre is another story.

Because it’s more profitable to go with a publisher, until you have a fairly large number of fans.

You can choose to selfpublish anyway, but it sholdn’t affect the games rating; only sales.

Yeah, I should make small games for while until I have over 100k then decide to make medium games.

You’re very welcome

Yeah, I almost went bankrupt, so I decided to focus on making small games. It’s easier for me to budget a small games I can get more income…Also as for new staff I have to train them well and they either need to be more skills in design or tech… if I put the staff in the right area I will able to get good scores…

A pleasure to help.
I suggest to try medium games with publisher and a good amount of royalty.
It is vital to earn good amounts of experience to level your skills.

@WaveJones YOU NEED ONLY 250K FANS FOR MEDIUM AND 700K FANS FOR AAA
