Can you clarify where it says that? Does this message appear in-game or on our website?
Unfortunately the only way we can check that you actually own the game is through this in-game verification. Emails or order details from Microsoft cannot be verified from our end.
Well, I assume I am knowing that when I go to install the game it says I have already purchased it. I do not have any other issues and I just did a wsreset,exe(resets the Windows Store) and it still does not work. Is there a way I need to log onto the game? I can double check but I should/better be logged onto the account that still has the e-mail of the Microsoft receipt. And if a link shows but, couldn’t you just copy and paste the link for me to go to? EDIT: Here is what it said EXACTLY.
“Could not verify App Receipt from Windows Store”
“Gateway Time-out”
"If the issue persists report this error to support@greenheartgames.com"
That is what it said and I quote. But I also tried signing in and out and it still didn’t work. I hope there is a fix somehow…
Maybe there is a problem communicating with our server. Are you sure that the game has internet access and isn’t blocked by a firewall or some proxy server?
How do I check if the game has internet access? And my firewall is disabled but I do not know much about proxy servers so I am not sure about that one. But 1, how do I check if the game has internet access? And 2, can you allow apps through a proxy server in Google Chrome or does it have to be in system files through your OS?
Ok, since I already tried to reinstall the app, I double checked the internet option and it was enabled. I signed into a different Microsoft account and tried to install the game but it said I had to buy it and then I signed into my main account where I bought the game and I could install it and I did so I know I am on the right account. Now, the last option, I am not sure how you set the windows store location. How do I? I know this is a nooby question but is it in the windows store options or system settings? Anyway, I tried the first two and still, I got nothing… thanks for trying to help though. And, do I have to be logged into the same Steam account that I bought the game with for Windows Store for it to work?
Please help! Anyone! I mean, I have a credit card number, the Microsoft receipt, my password and e-mail to my Microsoft account. What else do you need JUST to send me a Steam key! And why did you 2 both randomly stop posting? Do I need to record the error and post it so you can see it? If so, I will try but just respond. Don;t randomly stop responding. That is not cool and also, PatrickKlug, you are a developer so don’t randomly stop responding. It may work on “test” machines but it does not work on mine. And also, if this would help, I have a Gateway made machine. (Don’t take this message on the offensive side. Just know that when it says “Get Steam Key”, I would like a Steam Key) And again, what else could I possibly do to make this retarded error go away?
@PatrickKlug - Gateway computers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gateway,_Inc.
An American company that was popular in the UK in the mid 90s as a low cost alternative to companies such as Dell and HP.
Most noted feature was the black and white cow design which seemed to make the product more consumer friendly.
The “Could not verify app receipt from windows store” as seen in the image below is most often fixed by;
Reinstalling the App
Signing in with the correct credentials
Allowing the game to access the internet
The Error;
Permissions Tab;
To Disable localization in Windows 8 so you can see all Apps available to you, please follow these simple steps:
Open the Windows Store
While in the Store, open Windows Charm and click the Settings gear
Select Preferences
Set “Make it easier to find apps in my preferred languages” to NO
As you have reinstalled the app and confirmed that your credentials are accurate i am leaning towards thinking that this is a internet connectivity issue. Can you please list any and all security software you use such as antivirus, firewall, anti malware etc, you said your firewall was disabled but we still need to know which firewall it is as many security programs don’t fully stop functioning when disabled.
Also it is important to test the steam key functionality on safe networks. Schools, hospitals and government buildings will offer restricted access on their networks so please test on a safe and open network.
Please note that all troubleshooting & diagnostic measures are performed at your own risk.
Also you do not need to link your Steam account with your Greenheart games account. Once the webpage loads you will receive a unique numerical steam key which you enter into your steam client;
Launch the Steam client software and log into your Steam account.
Click the Games Menu.
Choose Activate a Product on Steam…
Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.
That I KNOW of, I have Windows Defender and Windows Firewall. I have disabled BOTH of them. I also just went to my internet settings and disabled “Pop-Up blocker” and made the internet security VERY low. I am connected to my internet by an Ethernet cable. I did everything you showed and STILL, it will not work. And where it says “undefined” for the screenshot that you uploaded, mine says “Gateway Time-out” so I do not know if that has to do with My “Default Gateway” address or my Gateway machine. Also, I just did a internet test on speedtest.net and my download speed was 32.43 mbps and my upload speed was 3.34 mbps. So I think my internet SPEED is good, but I will search for anything that will block a pop up or whatever but let me know how to do a full system check on anti-virus software IF you know how. Again, I think all I have is Windows Defender and Windows Firewall because I just reinstalled Windows about a week ago and I haven’t installed that many things. I know I haven’t installed anti-virus stuff myself but somehting may have been self attached. Anyway, I hope this helps you more and if there is anything else I could try, PLEASE let me know. Or let me if I am screwed and need to buy the game again. Anyway, thank you for your time! Oh, and one more thing. I know I am signed into the right Microsoft Store account because I tried signing in to a different account and installing the game and it said that I had to buy it. Then I signed BACK into the previous account and it said that I have purchased the game so I can install it.
EDIT: Is there a port that I could/would have to follow to make this work? Like in the port forward settings for my router setting. If so, let me know!
I FINALLY GOT THE PAGE TO SHOW!!! I changed my default browser to the Windows 8 Internet Explorer and it opened without a problem but now, I have another problem. The page is blank. Like it says Game Dev Tycoon and the top: here is the page it takes me too but the body of the website is blank white for me. Please help if you could. EDIT: I took the link off because it could have given everyone a free Steam key but when I clicked it in desktop Google Chrome, IT WORKED!!! I AM GOING TO TRY TO ENTER IT IN STEAM! YESSSSSSS!!! AHHHHHH! Sorry… I may have over exaggerated but it has been SO annoying…especially for such an EASY fix. Thank all of you for the help. If a problem occurs, I will let you guys know!
Glad to hear it worked but I’m really not sure what the issue was. @VlentfulGaming Can you outline in a numbered list what the necessary steps were to solve this?
Hopefully this can help someone else in the future.
Google Chrome was my default browser on desktop which I believe caused the problem.
Unistalled Game Dev Tycoon
Went to Windows Store
Logged into account that purchased Game Dev Tycoon
Reinstalled Game Dev Tycoon and allowed permission for app to use my internet connection
Went to Control Panel>Network and Internet>Internet Options and then selected the “Security” tab
Made security level “Custom” and enabled most things that made me unprotected.
Disabled pop-up blocker in the “Custom” settings from step 7 and disabled pop-up blocker on the “Privacy” tab
Made mouse go to top right corner and clicked on “Search”
In the search box I typed “Default Programs”
Clicked on “Set Default Programs” option
Made Internet Explorer one of my default programs(came pre-installed with my Windows 8 so in other words, made the Windows 8 version of Internet Explorer my default browser; the Internet Explorer version is Internet Explorer 11)
Went to Game Dev Tycoon and loaded up a save and right clicked and then click “Get Steam Key” and waited while my heart beat rapidly
Then, it loaded up Internet Explorer 11 next to my game(like in a somewhat side panel you could call it I guess) and then I copied the link to the website because the website was white and didn’t(fully) load
Went to Google Chrome and pasted the copied link from my clipboard into the URL box and pressed “Enter”
Everything loaded up and I clicked on the box with my Steam key and it said it automatically copied the key to my clipboard(and it did)
Then I opened up Steam, redeemed the key(there is already a link on your website somewhere on how to redeem a key), download and installed the game, then opened up the game and started playing(with mods)(there is already a link on your website somewhere on how to redeem a key)
Then I went back and made Google Chrome my default browser again
This is everything that I did to fix this. Now, I am sure that this would for the desktop version of Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer but I have only tried it on Chrome. But the main key here is I made Internet Explorer my default browser and everything was good.
