What Linux Distro would you recommend?

Essentially, I run my Minecraft and Teamspeak 3 server off my spare laptop (Before anyone complains, it’s powerful enough to get the job done)

However, the Hard Drive is a complete mess, and I cba cleaning it up.

So, @Stian, (Or anyone else) what Linux distro would you recommend that is Noob Friendly, and will allow me to run a MC and TS server?

What are you even running a TS3 server for? :open_mouth:

I use it to talk to friends, since I hate Skype

Make your own one!
How hard can it be anyway…?

@KizzaGaming I don’t see why you’d need linux specifically, especially considering that you might want to run a different type of gameserver in the future. Reign of Kings, for example, is windows-only at the moment (not that there are any very good reasons for that). But since you specifically asked Stian and not the rest of us, I’ll withhold recommending a specific distribution.

I only really asked @Stian because, well, it’s @Stian, and I know how much he loves Linux.
I’m still willing to take suggestions.
Also, Reign of Kings doesn’t really interest me, so lol

Well if your heart’s set on Linux, Ubuntu and Mint are the frontrunners for ease-of-use and newbie support. Debian (dpkg) and SUSE (RPM) would be my choices for a server system that I almost never directly interact with.

Noob-friendly? If you want to use your laptop for running servers, you cant get a noob-friendly distro. You would go for something like Debian, but of-course, it would be a hellhole to get any proprietary software running on there. I would suggest Arch Linux, and before you say its not noob-friendly; https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners'_guide

It might seem complicated but in reality, its just making sure that you setup everything correctly

I tried Ubuntu 14.0.4? (or whatever) once in a virtual machine…
But I don’t use Linux.
