What is a startup game?

I have absolutly no idea what the genre startup is. Google doesn’t give me any answer to it.
Can someone explain me, what exactly it is?

I wondered the same. No idea.

I would guess it revolves around managing a startup company. It is pretty vague, though.

well googling “Startup Tycoon” i got

“Startup Tycoon - Business Venture Simulation Game Developed”

So I’d guess its similar to game dev tycoon, but more generically business than game development.

Another startup game is “mcdonalds”, where you have to run the bigness and hire staff etc.

I used to play a game called Lemonade Tycoon (or something like that, this was years ago). You start off with a homemade lemonade stand, but you can upgrade to a more professional stand, then a van, a kiosk, and eventually a storefront (iirc). That’s a startup game.

Edit: I’m actually thinking of Lemonade Tycoon 2.
