You probably all know that companies have been releasing a lot of retro 8/16-bit styled games. But what do you think about it?
I personally think that these games are fenomenal (coughshovelknightcough), plus they bring the good old days of the NES and SNES back to this day. More kids will know about how great it was back in the 80s-90s, and not just Call of Duty this Battlefield that.
Im not sure whether I like the 8 bit/ 16 bit games that are being made now. Minecraft. Its a spectacular game utilizing 8 bit graphics in a 3D engine (Java). But when you bring kids into play, they are what ruined the minecraft experience that I love (Cough >Pewdiepie< Cough.) On the other hand, there are some really neat games that use 8bit / 16bit graphics like Hotline Miami. (I love Hotline Miami)
I think it’s Mega Man + Castlevania + Ducktales + Super Mario (not really) + Ghost and Goblins = Shovel Knight IMO. But i think an average of 5 hours for $15, if you’re a completionist it’s like 7.5 hours.
They have their place for sure. They are great when you get stuck on a low end laptop etc. Other than that though they always make me feel like i’m wasting my GPU capability.
