It’s actually a RL company, founded by myself. It was a completely failed attempt to sell T-shirts online. The Company is long since dead, but I keep the name around.
Great Thread
I will favorite this and as i get around to organizing will make sure it has high visibility.
If anyone has time and fancies compiling a list of the actual names, and the authors name in a concise manner that would be great! I will give a forum title for this task when they are implemented!
I named my company Taco Games and made games like Taco Racing, Taco War, Space Taco. I even named my engine TacoEngine. I told my hispanic friends about my company in Game Dev Tycoon, they weren’t too happy.
My last game, before that save gave me the game breaker that I’m currently faffing around with the game’s update process to fix, was Nerdgasm Games. We had a fair few good series. First, there was Sobsis, a Sic-Fi Action game and our resident Crysis rip-off. Then. there was Abiotic Reckoning, another Sci-Fi Action series and a BioShock parody. That name wasn’t exactly snappy, so that series became Abiosis, and inadvertently turned into a Post-Apoc RPG. There was also the Noire series of games (N.Y Noire, Chicago Noire, you get the idea), which could always be relied on to make a good seller. We had some other good franchises too, like the Tap Tap games for grPhone and mPad, and the Super Hero Smash games. Our console was the Nerd Cube. Some of you will get that in a whole different way from others.
My first company was call Fail Games and i went bankrupt shortly after moving into the first office after releasing 3 failed games in sucession and unable to repay the bank.
2nd company was TROLOLOL INC and now i have finished the game x)
I ended up naming my game winning company J&J Gaming, which stands for Joker and Jester Gaming.
My custom consoles were called JxJ and the JxJ Maximus.
I had 4 long running series:
Destiny (Military Action then Military Action/Adventure)- 7 games. Destiny, Destiny II, D3, D4: Dark Destiny, D5: Neverender, D6: Dark Empire, and lastly Destiny Online, the MMO adaptation but Not a sequal… I screwed that up there.
Mace Swinger (Medieval Action then Medieval Action/Adventure)- 8 games. Mace Swinger, Mace Swinger 2, Mace Swinger Reload, Morningstar Swinger, The Mace Swinger, Iron Mace, Steel Mace and the MMO sequal Mace Swingers Online. (Yes, I named this game series after Sips’s games from the Yogscast.)
Space Knight (Fantasy Action then Fantasy Action/Adventure)- 5 games. Space Knight, Space Knight 2, SK: Galactic War, SK: Galactic Command, and The Space Knights.
Sith Knights (Space Action then Space Action/Adventure)- 5 games. Sith Knights, Sith Knights 2, SK: Sith Overlords, The Sith Knight, and Sith Lords.
As you can see, I had 2 MMOs, with Destiny Online having 3 expansions and being on the market for over 9 years- around 110 months. Sold 258.5M copies for a loss of 326.4M when I finally took it off the market. It was released on the pc after getting codename:grid which raised marketshare of the pc. My second MMO, Mace Swingers Online, was one I just started on my newest custom console and it hadn’t really started selling before I finally decided I was finished with the game. xD
I name all my games and engines sequentially so that their cases sit nice and orderly like on the bookshelf.
I chose #7 because the previous 6 companies were bought out by Electronic Mass Productions. I guess they must like the cut of my jib because they love purchasing my companies. I’ve already bought 6 more Deloreans with that sweet sweet sell-out cash.
