I just wanted to say that I enjoyed the demo of this game and I am 90%* certain that I am going to buy the full game once I have disposable income again. It was funny how I could name a game whatever I wanted and people wouldn’t look at it any differently; Troll Force One did fairly well for a game I made solely to fund my first engine.
I actually heard about this game when I read up on the prank in the pirated versions of the game and decided to check out the game. As a gag gift for their birthday, I’m thinking of giving a friend (who unfortunately pirates games) a pirated copy of Game Dev Tycoon, then giving them the real copy after they give up because of the in-game piracy event.
I don’t know if the developers read their forums, let alone read this post, but I just wanted to say it. Troll Town Games will live once again and I will make a Trolls in Space II! (I thought it would be funny to theme a game company and its games after trolls)
*10% is my estimated odds that something expensive (computer, car, leg, etc.) will break just as I’m thinking of buying the game.
The developers definitely do read the forum! Not that I’m a developer, but I’ve interacted with them.
It’s good to see more people enjoying the game. Certainly, some of the fun comes from the comedy in releasing whatever you please. My favorite ‘improbable’ game is a Romance Adventure MMO in the late-game. It doesn’t even matter what it’s called. The concept is so silly that I do it in more playthroughs than not. They can actually do quite well.
The idea of turning pirates onto the pirated version to hold up a mirror to them is very much what the dev team did. This is the first time I’ve seen one of the players suggest they’d do it to one of their friends. It sounds like a good gift. Do you think your friend might figure it out on their own?
I’d like to think my friends are a fairly smart bunch, this particular friend will probably figure it out by the third failed game company if they haven’t already heard of this game and it’s in-game piracy event on pirated copies.
And I goofed, I meant to say Trolls in Space III, not two.
