Transfering achievements question

I’m playing on Steam, and I love the fact that I can play on my laptop at work during my lunch break (or on Christmas Eve/New Years Eve when 8 out of the 250 people in our company are working and none of them need tech support), then come home and pick up where Ieft off on my desktop. Unfortunately, one thing is really working my OCD into a fury: the achievements (in-game, not Steam) don’t seem to transfer.

To be more precise, some of them unlock, such as the one for naming my company Greenheart Games, having a level 10 character, etc.; but the Easter egg achievements for creating Pong, Wing Commander, etc. don’t. It’s frustrating to have different achievements unlocked across platforms. Any way to manually transfer them? Perhaps copying a specific file from laptop to desktop, or editing something?

Well crud. There’s got to be a way; I mean, these achievement are clearly stored SOMEWHERE locally. Just a matter of figuring out where.
