I have recently bought my copy of the game for my windows 7 PC. Obviously, I bought the game via email download. Even more recently, I bought myself a Windows Surface Pro tablet. How do I transfer my purchase to enable me to get a metro version of the game so that I wouldn’t have to buy the game twice?
Unfortunately the ModernUI (nee Metro) edition of the game must be purchased separately (via the Windows Store) from the Desktop edition. This policy is primarily due to the fact that Microsoft do not give the developers identifying information about the people who purchased the game. However, since you wish to convert your Desktop edition to a ModernUI edition, it may be possible to grant you a voucher to use in the Windows Store. @PatrickKlug or @Charlie would have to investigate this, however.
In other news, the ‘Pro’ edition of the Surface tablet has a fully working Windows 8 environment, complete with desktop, so the Desktop edition should work just fine on your tablet. I agree that it would be better to play the native ModernUI version on your tablet, since that was the original release market for which the game was developed.

EvoGamer is correct, it is currently not possible to install the windows 8 Store version on another platform or vice versa.
We do aim to give out Steam keys to Windows Store owners (as well as those who purchased directly from us) when we publish Game Dev Tycoon on Steam.
One more thing @Charlie, If i bought the game from your guys’ website, can’t i download the game from the Windows 8 Store? (I just really want to review this game)
I’m afraid not, The Windows store is an independent entity from our website and Store.
