Tip with Genre Combos

I just wanted to share something i found! I wanted to do a new topic game cuz that was the trend and i wanted o do an experiment. I used Fashion as topic and Casual-RPG as genre! I know Fashion-RPG sounds bad! But i lokked at a side and Rpg and Casual is the best playsystem 2 and RPG and Casual works good with fashion so i tried to do it! And it worked GREAT! 9,5 reviews! Look at http://images.wikia.com/gamedevtycoon/images/3/3d/OldPercent.png and you will see the best percent on the sliders! As you see, there is no RPG-Casual combo, so i tried to balance the RPG and Casual percents. I took some from RPG and some from Casual and mixed them together and it worked. So try to mix the two genre slider percents if you are doing a kinda"Strange GEnre Combo"! I just wanted to share that with you! Hope it helps!

I have a few mutli-genre combos I find really useful.

Simulation + Casual. This combo is great It allows for fairly even bubble ratios. There are plenty of topics that are good for both simulation and casual. You don’t even have to change your sliders much from making pure simulation games. The combo really gets good when the GS is released, as it provides a sales bonus to both Simulation and Casual games. When the Nuu comes out, transition to Large/AAA games and start developing for that, as it too gives bonuses to both simulation and casual. The Wuu does as well.

Action + Simulation/Strategy

Action is a really hard genre to do well in the later game, as the bubble ratio that it demands is difficult to hit in the late game. Mixing in simulation or strategy helps moderate its desired tech/design bubble ratio while still keeping the same sliders. Action/Simulation and Action/Strategy is pretty common as good combos for many topics. This will allow you to continue developing action games in the late game, which is good on the Playsystem/MBox/Custom Console lines.

Simulation + Strategy and Strategy+ Simulation. (Can you tell what genres I favor?)

The two genres are practically identical twins in terms of what they want from your sliders and bubble ratios. By mixing these two up, you can milk your topics for 4 times the good combo games. So if you have, say, Business. You could make a Business Simulation game, Business + Strategy, Business + Simulation/Strategy and Business +Strategy/Simulation. All four would count as “New combos” yet not demand any changes to your sliders or bubble ratio. There are quite a few topics where the ONLY two genres they are good for are simulation and strategy.
