I’m sure there already are a few of topics like this but I think game developers, especially relatively new ones will appreciate it nonetheless.
First of all, I’d like to say that I really enjoy this game. A friend of mine made me aware of it and after watching him stream it for me for about 15 minutes I decided to order it myself. And thus far I haven’t regretted this decision.
I like the idea of being able to create your own game without having to study a ton of computer languages first. The initial tutorials and the achievement system is also a plus. And for being able to play this game over and over, focusing on different topics and genres on every playthrough also makes the price very reasonable.
Not knowing how advanced the devs knowledge on whatever language this game is written in is, I’d say overall they did a pretty good job for making the game as complex as it is, considering that every decision you make has an impact on the result you’re getting, whether it is in the actual game development or other random events.
Now for all the fun times the game will deliver, there are also a few negative things to be said in my opinion.
The first and most critical one being that there is little to no insight as to how the quality of a game is calculated. Without the wiki page on game development I myself would have been lost in the first office after the garage.
The second thing that has caught my attention every time is that there are still quite a few things beside the game quality calculation, that are left unexplained. For example the offer from Agent Blowfish to sabotage a competing company. Up until this point I never figured out what this actually does. Another thing is the fact, that while the game officially ends after a maximum playtime of 35 years you can still keep playing, which as far as I can tell you have to do in order to reach the maximum level with all your employees and the diffent fields and graphic engines.
But other than this and the obvious lag problems in the late game which a lot of people have already complained about and which I’m sure Greenheart Games is working hard on, I would like to congratulate you guys at Greenheart Games on your success to a very entertaining and a very innovative game!
WELL DONE!
