This game looks super fun! And I want to play it so bad! But its for Mac 10.7+ and I have 10.6.8, and I really want to play it and support you guys, but i don’t really want to change my operating system to mountain lion (herd ify stuff about it) so is there any way you guys can make it 1.6.8 of no?
sorry but the underlying technology we use (node-webkit) only runs on Mac OS 10.7 so there is no way for us to support earlier versions.
oh its ok then, sorry to bother you
It might seem a little convoluted, but you could try running a VM of Linux once the Linux build is perfected (ETA: Soon).
Well dude, you’re starting to really fall behind on your OS and as time goes by, you will keep seeing problems like this more and more. Upgrading your OS will not be JUST so you can play this game. Your computer will probably run better and be more compatible with more software. So really, this game alone will not cost you 28 dollars. That money is going to a lot more than just this game. Just be glad you’re on mac and the OS upgrades don’t cost an arm and a leg.
Thats the punishment u get a MAC…
Most tech genie/gamer/HC Gamer dont use MAC.
Reason not to get MAC
- Slow,
- Lower Spec
- Overprice
- Less customizable
- Serious software compatible issue
- Not using Premium Component. ( Best mobo, ram, GPU, sound cards etc )
At the same price, My DIY PC run 3x faster than a MAC and last longer. Everything i saw a MAC and its spec list, and look over its Price, i feel disgusting.
Well, iPad is a totally different Story.
I also have a Mac running 10.6.8 - and i can’t upgrade my OS on this machine.
I still bought this game - i know i don’t have a gaming machine but this game still runs fine.
The solution to the OS-problem is bootcamp. I have a bootcamp-partition running Win XP (SP3) and i have Parallels to start windows without rebooting. I tried the demo through parallels and it worked. Starting the game was a bit slow but once the game was running gameplay was smooth.
Your reasons not to get a MAC is countered by one simple reason.
It’s not relying on Billysoft’s Windows.
Instead it relies on Steve’s Mac OS.
For the general consumer, there are 3 realistic choices for a desktop computer: A PC running Windows, a PC running Linux, or a PC running Mac OS. The hardware inside is the same (x86-based processor, PCI/PCIe peripheral bus, USB connectors for external peripherals, etc), but each OS has its own strengths.
-
Windows is the best option if you’re a serious gamer (the others are working on it, but not quite there yet), or if you work in a big corporate environment.
-
Linux is a great development platform, and is becoming a good general all-round home system.
-
Mac OS X is the best choice for high quality graphics or audio work. Beyond that it makes for a great ELC PC.
Each OS has it’s place, and thus each OS is supported by this game. Please, let’s not have a fanboi war here. and stick to talking about the GHG and their great game.
MAC is not the way to go for gaming, but yes you should really just upgrade your OS as it will come in handy for a lot more than just this in the future
Dude people buy macs for the OS which is unmatched. But none of the shit you just said is relavent to his “problem” (hardly a problem, update your god damn computer). Macs AND PCs deal with needing to upgrade OS’s, and Macs are actually the cheaper option in that regard. So thanks for just polluting the forum with your pointless anti-mac speech.
Why can’t you upgrade your OS?
Because my macbook is too old (produced in 2008). Only Macs produced in 2009 or later can be upgraded to 10.7 and above.
But i plan to buy a new one in june anyway.
