This game is easy moddable?

So this game will support mods?

Whilst the game does not officially support mods, the game files are DRM free and unencrypted, so you are free to modify them if you wish.

Any tip how^^? Oh, and Hi! Im new :stuck_out_tongue:

I really love this game but i think it needs some graphical tweaks…i extracted the game.exe and now i can change everything i want(Sound, textures and stuff).
The game is based on a browser(WebKit) and you can even “play” it in the extracted state…na, not really :stuck_out_tongue: doesnt load all the stuff as you can see here(quick edit with paint, but that should not the cause):
http://forum.greenheartgames.com/uploads/default/58/ac4e80c0e7fa1691.png

As you can see it looks like some informations are missing…copied the extracted files into the root of the install folder but it keeps the same, so the extra files doesnt help…i need to pack the game again as .exe with the informations which are in there or just replace the files in the exe itself without extracting first…tried it with some programs like PowerArchiver…but when i replace the png it just opens a weird window xD

Sooo…does anyone have an idea what to do?

Windows 8 x64
Used to Extract the .exe: Universal Extractor 1.6.1
Used to change the png inside .exe without extracting: PowerArchiver12 V1303

I reply myself so all can see it easier…

Extract the files with “PowerArchiver12”(30 Day Trial on Website) and download the Windows executable from github for node-webkit(if you have windows) and place all files in the extracted folder…now you can edit the files and load the game trough the nw.exe …if anyone knows a free/open source tool to extract the exe, please tell us :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: Works nice…but much work :stuck_out_tongue: http://puu.sh/2KZl5

Does Green Heart Games accept and encourage the modding of the game?

No official message other than :

Yes, we are aware of this.
If people don’t abuse this, there isn’t an issue.

Then I would say, they wouldn’t like to see mod distributed without their permission …

Sad panda is sad… This is so… so… so Microsoftish…

In what way? Is a lack of DRM and unencrypted text files ‘Microsoftish’?

No no no  i meant: the “fear” for mod distribution is Microsoftish  I was replying to:

I hope it will not be a problem to distribuite mods.

Don’t forget that EA also hates mods as well, even there was this one mod that actually make the graphics of battlefield 3 better and what did they give the modder? a perma ban of his origin account, which is stupid. Look at half-life 2 and how many mods that game has, and has valve perma-ban their account for that? hell no! Hell it’s help what makes half-life 2 better then EA’s sack of shit games they try to rip you off on.

It all depends on which kind of mod.

Since the javascript used is completely accessible (and can be unobfuscate), I bet they wouldn’t want any mod that touch it, especially there is a clear comment in the file about that.

If you mod the graphic or sound, I don’t think there will be problem, but the best would be a full support of the dev for mods, like a directory that override the resources of the game.

What’s the problem about modding the code? I bought the game. Why can I not change the code, if I want?
And why can I not distribute a patch, written by myself, with my code inside?
I really don’t see where the problem is.

It’s called : copyright.
You have no right to modify and republish what they have done without their consent.

And when you see what they used, distributing the patch, mean distributing the whole game, then you’re giving for free (or even for money) something you didn’t do, and just steal the work of other.

Buying the game, doesn’t mean you own a licence or anything, you just own the “end product” not “the process to do it”.

i think the issue here is this. if some body really wanted to they could rewrite the hole dam game change the name change the looks rename some systems and every thing else with lil to no work if they knew java script. and turn around a resale the game. or some other dick head move and i dont think any body would apriciate that at all once so ever @GendoIkari

Copyright law. You’d be creating a derivative work, which is a right reserved in copyright.

One thing is for sure, this isn’t as easy to mod as Minecraft is.

I’m a damn idiot and I could still make entire mod packs on that.

he is right you did not buy the rights to the code. now im sure if you want to “buy” the rights to the code and then make a patch or a mod and distrube it free or not that is some thing deffrent. they but faith and trust in every body here to do the right thing. and not abuse the no drm. and this is why i respect this company very much so pardon my horrible English @Balor

java just sucks in general if you ask me yea you can make nice games out of it. but performance wise o hell no

It’s even easier to mod it than minecraft, you don’t have to mess with class or anything.

I’m a minecraft modder (well for bukkit (server)) I can assure you, after unpacking the game, I see so many easy way to do whatever I want with the game. I just need to deobfuscate (like for minecraft) and learn Node.js (that isn’t really difficult when you already know some programming languages)

I’m not agree with that, Java is a real good language and you have so many possibility that you don’t have with C++, of course it’s not made for games … more for application.

I’m not too into coding.

I know Basic Java and even more basic C++

If you throw me some code like Minecraft’s I could make a few of my own weapons, and so on.
But I don’t know the process of getting to the damn code.
